An AD is judged on his hires. His only significant hire at LS U so far has been Johnny Jones. However that ultimately works out the hire was generally approved by the fanbase. He hasn't been faced with hiring a football coach here yet but he did make the Cutcliff hire at Duke. Great hire. Whatever happened with some Duke lacrosse players and whatever role he played the players were eventually exonerated. There will be plenty of justified hate to go around if he hires a bad football coach or even a bad baseball coach. Why hate on the man until he hires a Gurley Hallman and proves he can't do the job.

Joe Dean was the worst AD LSU ever had and even then he didn't get the vitriol that is spewed out against Alleva

At LSU, par is 12-0 so Miles was 5 over for last season.

12-0 isn't par at any school in the NCAA.

How many seasons has LSU had where they had zero losses? I know '58 under Dietzel was one. As I recall, in the last century (1900-1999) there were less than five and besides that '58 season the rest of them were when? Before 1925 I believe.

Foley has just hired Auburn assistant, Jenny Rowland, as head coach of their gymnastics program. Home run hire? No. More like a strike out, swinging, with all three pitches in the dirt.

Please understand, I look at that through Crimson glasses to this degree. Here's a coach going to a program with all kinds of potential. BUT, it's also hiring an assistant coach from a program that's lost over 100 (yes, 100) meets in a row to the Tide.

    Bringing this full circle:

If we step back five or six years there's a strong majority that would look at UF as one of the best run athletic departments in the nation. Outside of their non-revenue sports (and they may turn a profit in softball, I don't know) how do you rank their program today?

Some fans want their team to be the greatest, and are capable of watching a game and breaking down what they see on the field. And others just think the uniforms are pretty, the stadium is big, and as long as there aren't more losses than wins in a season nothing else matters.

So no team makes the cut? Because every team has 8-5 seasons, even the best. Most have far worse seasons.

The 8-5 or plus minus either way would be fine if he sprinkled I'm that big season here or there. Its just not going to happen. I hope I'm wrong, I'd love nothing more than a great season for the Tigers. Unfortunately Les is not Samsung and the next big thing isn't here. He is more like a flip phone, cool when it came out but...
