translation: who gives a flying phuck what the fans want to see, as long as we get our $. no, LSU wants to have 7 or 8 home games.
Nope, that's how many games it takes to make a profit. 6 homes games is a break-even year. All those world-class facilities and top-pay coaches cost money. Without the money we would be like Tulane.
THE hell with the OOC schedule lets just have everyone drop that JUST play EVERYONE in the own conferences and have a playoff at the end!!!!!
come on red! 6 home games is over $27.5 million in JUST ticket sales. that's not including tradition fund or parking sales. that's if none of the suites are booked. that's if nobody buys so much as a hot dog on campus that's if LSU turns down every penny coming to them from the ESPN and CBS contracts. that's if they don't accept a dime of any BCS or other bowl money coming thier way. that's if they don't take any money from COX or Radio broadcasts during the year. that's if not a single booster donates so much as a dime during the year. that's if LSU doesn't actually charge for the endless amounts of advertising going on in the stadium. that's if nobody buys an LSU hat, jersey, t-shirt, jacket, etc. during the entire season. so i have a really, really, really, really, really hard time believing that LSU just "breaks even" with 6 home games.
That's a nice list of income. The LSU AD has a nice list of expenses, too. Skip stated it publicly once. 6 games minimum, 7 or 8 to stay ahead of expenses. The athletic Dept gets no state funds and football basically funds all 20 other LSU sports plus contributes several million back to the University. Our coaches get about $10 million and what do you imagine 85 free-ride scholarhips cost? plus the 85-female matching scholarships that are also paid for. There is a long list of expenses. In fact, here is the LSU AD financial statement. http://www.lsutaf.org/pdf/2008NCAAAudit.pdf
Here's a link that actually works... Red, take ya meds, buddy... http://www.lsutaf.org/pdf/2008NCAAAudit.pdf
So you are saying that LSU needs 7 home games minimum for the ENTIRE athletic department to be profitable? If so, I'd buy that.
I have heard say this as well more than a few times. It makes since too because one of our main expenses each season are paying teams like ULL to come to Tiger Stadium without a return visit.
well, that's an expense that comes off the books if you schedule someone worth a damn think about it, we need a 7th game to cover the expense of a 7th game?
eassssssy, brotha! i can't even stoop as low as to bad mouth MCHS this season -- this is just a terrible team. possibly the worst in the history of the LHSAA. they should honestly stick to baseball and basketball and sell their stadium to CCHS-MC. :hihi: :bncry:
