Wtf? We all know how important the SS position is in baseball. Not many were as productive as Cabrera was this past season (.301, 86 RBI, 20 SB). And to top that, he won his 2nd straight gold glove and has a .982 fielding pct over the past 3 seasons leading all AL shortstops. In exchange they get a mediocre pitcher in Jon Garland. He was a sterling 10-13 with a 4.23 ERA. He has a 92-81 career record with a 4.41 ERA.
This is a true head scratcher, unless they think they'll get Garland '05 Edition. Even then it's a bit odd.
Un-real. This is the SS I've been p!ssed about letting go for a couple years now, and they unload him for a mediocre (at best) pitcher.:cuss:
i have no clue how it will work, but that outfield will reak havoc. I guess it's also good insurance in case Vlad has to DH again this season like he had to do for portions of this season.
That would be a sick outfield. The 2 best defensive outfielders in baseball, and then the best arm around.
