Saw yesterday on NFL network that Andrew Whitworth will be going to the Pro-Bowl. He will be replacing Ryan Clady from the Denver Broncos.

Congrats to Whitworth, a great lineman, and former tiger.

Two LSU buddies back on the same team in the Pro Bowl...both were First Team All-SEC at LSU and both started for the '03 National Championship team...

Bengals left tackle Andrew Whitworth - started all four seasons at LSU: 02, 03, 04, 05...drafted 2nd R in 2006 Draft

Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams - started three seasons at LSU: 03, 04, 05....drafted 5th R in 2006 Draft

Whitworth wasn't expected to become a Pro
Bowler as a left tackle...In the
2006 draft, Whitworth went in the second
round because most of the NFL thought he
    couldn't play left tackle.

And Williams wasn't expected to be a Pro Bowler at any position, not after going in the fifth round to Buffalo that same year.

    It's Whitworth's 1st Pro Bowl and Williams'
2nd Pro Bowl and it may have been his third if
    not for the blown Achilles.

"Man he's what football is all about,"
Whitworth says about Williams. "He's undersized. ... A short,
powerful man that plays extremely hard. And
    tough. ... The ultimate competitor."

in return, Williams says this about Whitworth: "That's something to look up to."

At LSU, the two were roommates and best friends

"We were Northern Louisiana boys and we stuck together," says Whitworth

"There's not much we don't know about each other," Williams says.

    Whitworth says, "we live 20
minutes apart during the offseason and we'll
play golf and have lunch. We pick right up
    where we left off."

    Whitworth is from West Monroe
(pop. about 13,000) and Williams is from Ruston (about 22,000). Just 32 miles
and 31 minutes apart on I-20

They were born 18 months apart.
Whitworth, 31, married a Miss Louisiana
from Ruston that Williams, 29, knew growing
    up.

    Whitworth hosted Williams for
his visit to LSU since he got to Baton Rouge
    a year earlier.

"We're big supporters of each other and
we've been competitors, too, and that's as
much respect you can have for someone,"
    says Whitworth

In high school, Whitworth went to West Monroe, Williams to rival Ruston High

"Our (high) schools don't like each other very
    much," Whitworth explains.

Whitworth played basketball for West Monroe, and Williams would taunt him from the sideline:

Whitworth says Williams "was...the ringleader in the stands,
screaming at me and booing me and all that
    good stuff."

    Williams says:
    "He'd take the ball out-of-bounds and we'd
tug his shorts, just mess with him. In this one
game he fouled out and we're just crushing
him all the way back to the bench, yelling at
him. He's got a red T-shirt underneath his
basketball jersey. He pulls his basketball
jersey up and his T-shirt says, 'Rebel
Football: Taking Care of Business.' And it
has all those years they won state
championships. Talk about hitting to the
    bone. Ooh."

And Williams played baseball for Ruston, and Whitworth would come taunt him from the stands:

Whitworth says, "I returned the favor, yelling and screaming at him."

Williams says, "I played first base and
he'd get his buddies and they'd park their
trucks on the first-base line and just give it
    to me the whole game."

Ah good catch, i just looked at the official Pro Bowl roster, but....

Pittsburgh Steelers FS Ryan Clark (thigh) was
invited to the 2013 Pro Bowl but declined the
invitation because of a deep thigh bruise he
    suffered in Week 17.
