I'll bite. I simply don't see the logic in that assumption. Especially, when you consider we were still in the midst of rebuilding some aspects of our team and it took an overtime game to get past us this year. Bama isn't what I would call "back," yet. But, the depth is there. The only thing to be worked out is getting that depth to be experienced depth. The playing field is getting really close to being even again.
LSU and Auburn have been raking in top-tier recruiting classes for about 5 straight years. That means that Bama will have to compete with the lowly's of the division for third year-in and year-out...which, in my book, equals the cellar.
Bama has certainly come back a couple of years earlier than expected after the probation. I don't think that Bama yet has the kind of depth that LSU has enjoyed for the last three years, . . . but I'm not sure LSU has it this year either. LSU has a minor rebuilding year losing 21 seniors and has to do it with three tough SEC road games. Bama is still shallow in experience and has to come to LSU's place this year. I think both teams will take a few losses this year and build up that experienced depth for runs at the National Championship next year. LSU has a schedule made for a championship run in 2007 with Virginia Tech, Florida, Auburn, and South Carolina all at home and Bama on the road. __________________
We are on the same page really, both Chaos and Red. No matter what, 85 is that number and Bama is back there. But, like I said earlier, it's about experienced depth and that's something that I still think is a year away. However, this is really the first time any Bama fan has been able to realistically say we are back to a three deep roster, numbers wise, in several years. That's why we play the game!! On a bit of a seperate note. UT, and we know they have done well with OLmen over the years, actually had Ross higher on their board than Andre' because of Ross' experience with a passing attack. However, a lot of the coaches I've talked to think Motley has the best potential of the entire group.
Looks like we probably have an early '07 commit also. Andre's brother, Christian, is a very good reciever. Will be a 4 or 5 star. Already holding offers from Bama, LSU, Clemson, Miami, Barn...He's stated that he wants to play wherever his brother plays.
Uh, what's wrong with playing at the same place? I probably would also. He's 6'1'', 195...No doubt who won those fights. Also, no doubt anyone older picked on younger Smith either. :hihi:
