Yes we did "back-in" in 2007. However, the degree to which Saban harped to get that "back-in" was more like a reach-around. See the endless media time and last 2011 Coach's poll douchebaggery.
Your destiny has something to do with the BCS poll. Being undefeated doesn't always do it either. With about three weeks to go, we had 4 undefeated teams, how was ND in control of the future, or even Kansas State, at that point and time? They were Auburn 04, looking for some BCS help. Red like's to remind the Tiger masses, and correctly so, that the regular season is part of the BCS playoff system. That is destiny, until the 4 team playoff.
Also, Saban "low-balled" Oklahoma State in the final poll. Don't know if it made any difference, but that was a scum move to boost Bama into the NC game.
As much as I HATE to admit. Bama is a dynasty. How can three titles in four years not be a dynasty? I cant stand that scum bag Saban or the majority of the pompous Bama fan base but they deserve their due. I laugh when I hear some saying they backed into two of the titles, so what? Bama won those games and deserves the titles. Right now is the most competitive time in college football which makes it that much more impressive. I think this was by far Sabans best coaching job. This team was good, but not nearly as good as the previous two. LSU had a more talented team but despite that found a way to lose.

Saban knew if OKST were a unanimous 3 in the CoachesPoll, the Puters would put em in the BCNCG. Someone posted a link last year after final CoachesPoll to show how each voted.
