It probably is... but whatever means to an end I suppose... either way we NEED this, the BCS is a joke
What do you mean? When was the last time a team didn't win their division or their conference and made it to a national championship game? I think you all are acting like whiners. Geez, I always had more respect for Georgia vs others teams but am starting to rethink that logic. I am for a playoff system btw, pac ten and big ten won't let it happen. They are almost assured a spot in the championship game without it!
No offense personally, but i have to call you out right here... I stated that I could see why UGA fans could be upset, and then backed that conjecture up with a few reasons one might give if supporting that particular argument... that's kind of how it works, and it wasn't a "sob story" or "whining"... my 2cents
I'm getting really annoyed by the Big Ten conference not willing to do a playoff. It is all about the Rose Bowl, and how important it is to keep tradition. I really don't care about that. I care about having the best games possible for us, the fans.
"Deserves got nothing to do with it." :thumb: Your first mistake was stating feelings/opinions of a university president or otherwise could be measured objectively. You are defending a whiner who doesn't like the previously agreed upon rules of a game because the outcome did not go his way. I dub it Pete Carroll syndrome. LSU was in the same boat last year as previously stated and found a much more classy way of handling it. "I award you no points and may god have mercy on your soul.":dis:
exactly... I read an article today that called the BCS out as being a joke, and the bowl games weren't really exciting anymore.... for the most part I would tend to agree, and I totally agree that a playoff could change that dramatically
Stating that Georgia fans "from a purely objective standpoint one could see how UGA might be a little miffed" is saying, from your personal viewpoint, that they have a reason to be a upset about the results. Am I not reading between the lines here or something? Obviously from my sub par college education I can't understand what your saying here. How I understand it is that you feel Georgia has a reason to be pissed off and how I feel is that those feelings are a load of crap. Georgia has no reason to be a "little miffed", maybe about how they lost to Tennessee and SCar, but not about being denied a trip the BCS Nat'l Championship. I don't care if YOU "never cried "it should have been us!"", your statements that Georgia has a reason to be ticked is enough. Good job bringing college education in to this, that is real mature. By the way, I'm a senior about to attend Law School next spring.
I would imagine you spent a little minute writing that post... so just know that I took the college education comment out before anyone had replied (obviously you hit the reply with quote button before I edited it). I felt after reading it that the comment was inappropriate and unnecessary, and I apologize. I thought I had edited it before anyone would read it. DAMN YOU FOR BEING TOO FAST!
That was the case when we played OU in the '03 championship. They were undefeated going into the Big 12 title game and lost to Kansas State but still got to the big game. As for the "whining" by Ga., they have no argument. Don't like the current system? Go play in the Big 10(1) or Pac-10 where there is to championship game and 2 conference losses makes you the conference champ...
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3186232 Adams is the second SEC member president to advocate a playoff in the past year. Last year, University of Florida president James Bernard Machen -- whose Gators played in the BCS Championship Game and won the title -- said the time had come for a playoff system, but backed down from his position after conferring with his fellow SEC presidents. Adams acknowledged that he has long opposed a playoff system, largely for academic reasons and because the season is already too long. UGA Prez waits till NOW. Machen was pushing for this AFTER we played OSU.
