I apologize if this was already posted. AWESOME read! NewsRegister.com - News and information for McMinnville and Yamhill Valley, Oregon - wine country newspaper
a good piece on a bad journalist. it's a shame that too many people in this world aren't willing to do their own homework and come to their own conclusions. objectivity is hard to come by these days.
Canzano: Les Miles' handling of the Jordan Jefferson case reveals LSU's values | OregonLive.com .....Oregon made a difficult decision prior to last season, dumping returning starter Jeremiah Masoli after repeated run-ins with the law. Coach Chip Kelly did the same this offseason when star corner Cliff Harris embarrassed the program with that 118-mph traffic incident. I've banged on Kelly when I thought he was too soft, or inconsistent, or sending a poor message. But what I'm hearing from Miles right now is laughable. What we're really talking about is a program's willingness to announce to the rest of us that no one player stands above the program. Anyone think that's true at LSU today?..... Canzano's the worst,....ever.
Good link! Cananzo seems the epitome of tabloid journalism. The comment at the bottom of the article notes his usual bias against Oregon but in his piece he used Kelly as the golden measuring stick against Miles. He is a self serving douche bag. People like to be outraged by what they read or else he wouldn't be paid for his script.
very good read.....but unfortunately this is today's standards, reporters who shoot from the hip and are premature are usually bashing whatever team their team is fixing to play are have rivalries with, in that school's fans love that, a majority of them anyway, that's the world we live in today...unfortunately.....that's why they are considered fans.....short for fanatics....that's what drive these sorry reporters who do not do a very good job of 1. fact finding,2. trying to stay objective.
One thing you can say about Miles is he is fair. If you get suspended you deserved it. He will let it all play out and make the right move with his players and coaches. That is why they like to play and work for him.
Well it's called "innocent until proven guilty". It's also called loyalty. Miles is committed to his team and his staff. He was right to allow the system to work. Now that the evidence has been digested and arrests made the players have been removed from the team. That's the way it should have been handled. What kind of message would you send if you booted the kids based on 500 different versions of the incident and then it turned out there was no player involvement? This should be over as far as the football team is concerned. The matter is now in the hands of the courts. However, given the rise of incidents in bars involving LSU football players, I think it would be wise of the athletic department to invest some of those $MM into classes on self control, leadership and smart choices.
