You're right Red today they are. It has happened in the past as well. Before the civil war, before Teddy Roosevelt, before Franklin, before Reagan. It isn't limited to the US. Look at the leaders of England before WWII. When Churchill took the PM's office England was run by small men etc.

One thing I slightly disagree with you about is the power of the traditional political parties here. Today the parties are weak for many reason mainly the easy access to outside money. Ted Cruz et al don't need the party and the recent shutdown is proof of it. He called the shots not the party. In many ways the Ds have a stronger party structure because of their union and other partnerships remain close. However the last 2 campaigns by President Obama should give the Ds pause as he really didn't need them. It may be that a D Ted Cruz will appear funded by G Soros and the like to do to the Ds what the Koch brothers et al have done to the Rs...emasculate the party organization.

I still don't think Reagan deserves any credit for anything except starting the decline that America is on. And I don't agree that America doesn't have any real leaders anymore, it's just that the people I think are real leaders 99% of this board will call liberal socialists. They are out there, you just don't agree with them. Elizabeth Warren comes to mind.

they led during that said crisis or situation, so yes they are leaders.
this thinking is the same thinking that lead to far right and far left parties.
like the tea party arose out of the election of Obama. That experiment has failed.

Hasn't she always been an academic or politician?

I dunno, I just think that people who "only" teach miss the intangibles of working.

Reading books is easy. Getting your hands dirty brings a new meaning to life.

Outside of that, nothing really radical about her.

Just responding to you comments suggesting that academia is easy and misses the "entangles" of getting your hands dirty. Did you mean intangibles?

Yea, I don't always catch the iPhone auto correct.

Side note, I really liked the BlackBerry for the simple reason of being able to "feel" the keys.

Call me crazy but i'd rather a teacher as leader than some dude named skeeter who fishes logs out of rivers.
