If he is as good as advertised he should be ready to start by September. He is not a freshman coming straight from high school facing a transition to bigger and faster game. He spent one year with Georgia, and started in junior college. This kid will be ready to go. He may not start, but it won't be because he isn't "ready".

Defensive backfield was missing two likely starters, and is STILL sick. The CB on Mettenberger's TD? Pretty certain he is a walk on, and absolutely certain he is at best 3rd team.

Concerning Shep and Randle being more involved, two things...

1)It's a spring game. They just aren't gonna come out wide open in a spring game. It wouldn't be prudent to give Oregon 146 days to dissect the LSU offense.

2)Unless Jefferson just had a bad day, maybe due to his thumb injury, or unless Mett is in the game, you are NOT going to see Randle and Shep all that involved. Not saying they won't contribute, because Randle is elite, and Shep looked MUCH improved with his hands/route running. But LSU isn't a passing team right now. Not with JJ or JL starting. The smart thing to do is hand the ball to Ware/Ford/Gore/Blue/whoever, depend on JJ getting some yds with his legs, and keep the passing game as simple as possible...again, as it stands right now...with JJ or JL. That may change by September. We'll see.

Absolutely NOBODY can say that at this point. Not even the coaches. (not and be taken seriously)

We all have heard the hype, and we all have seen VERY limited action...VERY few plays. By all accounts that I would trust, it was his best effort since practice started. But no doubt he has the tools...

I love Jefferson's legs. When a play goes south, I wish every quarterback would turn into Jefferson. But he scares me every time it's a passing play. I think he's taken us as far as a running quarterback can go. We have to throw the football to reach the next level. Mettenberger will learn faster in the game than on the bench.

I'd like to see Mettenberger turned loose to direct the team down the field as soon as Oregon. I wouldn't mind seeing Jefferson's dual-threat complicate the Duck defense inside the red zone, though. Sort of the way Florida used Leak and Tebow.

I am thankful to jj for his service to the team. I hope his degree helps him excell in life. This being said ,I am very thankful that this is his LAST year of eligibility. I sort of wish he was graduating this summer and going to grad school in Europe.

Are you inside my head or what? I swear I have been thinking about that very thing all day. I would love to see a Leak/Tebow type offense this season...and quite frankly, assuming Mett catches the playbook, I think it's VERY doable.

I didn't realize you were a leg man...

This is some of the old timer insight that makes this board worth reading.

It's Spring game 2010. Wait it's Spring game 2011. Jordan Jefferson looks the same as he has for 4 years. Indecisive. It's spring so let's see how close Zach can get to be the starter by game one. I'm certain regardless of progress Miles will not start him.

Jefferson reached his peak in high school. The kid just is not comfortable at this level.
