Is a white person in the USA who is descended from South African parents considered to be an African-American?
I respect his right to make any statement he wants. But I don't understand why, on a night that was tailor-made to create team unity, he would choose to do something that many would consider inflammatory and divisive.
Legit African as in he has dual citizenship and his mother was born and raised in Liberia. A white person born in America of “African” parents is technically African American I suppose...although those parents are obviously from somewhere else in terms of lineage. Obviously most folks think of AA as black. Is that what you see when you look at that person though? This should not be an issue. Glad it hasn’t really gotten much traction in the news cycle.
