I've watched him for years playing here in Winnfield and wish him the best at his new home. They just got what could be the biggest steal in this class and LSU just lost out on what could have been a huge player for them soon. I'm trying to find out tho where the other players went to but no one I've talked to was there for signing day. I know Little went to NSU but not sure about the other 3 or so guys that signed today if anyone has heard please let me know thanks.

:geaux: Wish Moore was in this class, especially since we have 3 spots left. :rolleye33: For whatever reason, LSU just did not pursue this kid. Oh well. :LSU231:

Same reason "we" did not pursue Winnfield's Anthony Thomas who went to be an All-American at Michigan and NFL Rookie of the Year.

:geaux: As I remember, didn't Anthony Thomas's HS coach at the time have something to do with that? Does the same situation now exist with Moore? :LSU231:

Not at all. Coach Pyles was hoping Alonzo would go to LSU from what I've been hearing. Not sure about the A-Train. Different head coaches btw.

Care to elaborate? We don't all have the inside scoop from Winnfield.

:geaux: Know the head coaches are different. Just wondered about the situation. But I did hear previously that Thomas' coach at Winnfield back then was very anti-LSU. As for Moore, I wish he was in this class too because he can play. Nebraska got a good one. Hope he does well, except if he plays us. :D :LSU231:

The coach at Winnfield during Anthony's senior year did not like LSU, I know for a fact, but LSU never recruited him either, I also know for a fact.

I can also assure you Coach Pyles would not have steered anyone away from LSU. He's a class act, decent fellow.

not seeing what the big deal about Alonzo Moore is. sure, he might turn out to be great, but none of the coaching staffs at the major powerhouses thought he was worthy of an offer (the best programs to offer him were Tier-2 programs like Nebraska and Texas A&M)

as for LSU, we obviously took a close look at him, and he was invited to LSU's camp, but he didn't impress the LSU coaches enough to get an offer ("Winnfield receiver Alonzo Moore was someone I thought may earn an offer at camp, but the offer for a receiver went to Kavahra Holmes instead")

heck, apparently Nebraska doesn't even think he's good enough to be a WR, based on what Moore said after committing to Nebraska: "Moore says he believes his career will start off at cornerback. "I think I can be a great corner," Moore said. "Wherever it is, I'll put the work ethic in and contribute to the team."

finally, the recruiting services didn't think that highly of him:
    Rivals #22 ATH, low 4-star (5.8 grade)
    247: #50 WR, 3-star
    ESPN: #52 ATH, 3-star
    Scout: #132 WR, 3-star

sure, he was a great player in Louisiana 2A high school football, and if LSU had unlimited scholarships, he'd be a take. but we don't have unlimited scholarships, so we can't take everybody
