does anyone know why we aren't recruiting alonzo lawrence hard?

from what ive read this guy is a beast in coverage, was able to shutdown db in practice,

also charles mitchell his teammate ms allstars said he thought he was the best player regardless of position.

TB3, you may can correct me if I'm wrong, but I have a feeling he is Bama's if they want him to be...as they were in touch with him all along. For the most part, he was a relative unknown until recently, and obviously very underrated...yet Bama was still on him while not many others were...which could play in their favor.

he said bama was his leader but lots change when those pretty girls start looking at you that never have before. kudos to saban though. he was on him when most didnt know about him months ago so i can understand the relationship.

HS cornerbacks are very hard to compare head to head. As far as talent goes they all have what it takes compared to their peers to do what it takes to be a successful #1 CB's in college. Though, they have different styles.

Lawrence is more of a man-man guy that is very physical against big guys - like Deangelo Hall (not talent wise) but will take some chances but get burned too.

Bryant and Johnson are more lockdown guys IMO...sort of like Chevis Jackson - wont get many picks but are generally always in position.

Bottom line, he has gone up against two of the top WR's in the country in Julio Jones and Deandre Brown. Neither of them want to go against him on a regular basis...I guarantee you that. Although I realize JJ didn't have much throwing him the ball the other night, he still shut them BOTH down this year.

Not taking a thing away from what you have said ( ) but a lot of credit goes to Ron Middleton for having his eye on him early and staying with him.

Funny, you mention pretty girls...especially considering the conversations we've had about the other school that may be in play here! Surely, you can't be referring to PS? It's out of her area of expertise, or, is it?

Well if thats the case, if he signs with Bama...he'll have a lot of Butta-Faces checking him out...Better off at USC,UF, or UM as far as good-looking girls.

    2nd hand info...

A relative of one of the Lucedale coaching staff that I swap emails with every few days asked me about players who were visiting on the 11th. He mentioned in our exchange last night that if LSU had been with him early on there is more than sufficient reason to believe you would have had a great chance of landing him.

From his description, the LSU staff is making a late push, or trying to.

Just a FWIW...it's one of those "dinner table" conversation tid-bits that was passed along and I take it FWIW.

In all honesty, if that other team we talked about came in and told him he would have a shot at playing WR off the bat I'm positive AL would listen. He mentioned it to Saban a few weeks ago and was basically told "if you come to UA you'll play CB...that's where your success will be if you make it to the next level."

The kid is talking WR in relation to Heisman. That leads me to believe the recruiting hype, more importantly the *recent* recruiting hype, is starting to reach a point he's enjoying it.
