A kernal of truth here has been morphed into an entertaining fictional account. Nothing wrong with that.

 

Seems plausible unless you were on the inside and know the real story

 

I wasn't and don't. In September '83 I was ops officer, running an intel center in Europe focused on Soviet Ballistic missile submarine readiness and several other, uhm, things. That guy is not much older than me, though. Damn!

 

But you ware in a position to hear much more reliable "chatter" than the man on the street.

 

Don't remember hearing anything about this, which is surprising, though maybe just bad memory. I feel it would have warranted a pair of ruined undies, kept as conversation piece, at a minimum.

 

Don't you know you're suppose to take your undies off when you put your head between your legs to kiss your ass goodbye?
