I love Miles(nh) and would be very sad if he left. There's a lot of people that were against him this season, but I think with the 11 wins and if he turned down Michigan a lot of people would become huge fans of his even if they hated him before. I think if he shows loyalty to LSU the entire fanbase should show a huge amount of loyalty to him, even if he makes some head scratching calls in the future.
Miles may want to finish his career at Michigan. His dream may be to coach at Michigan and it may be the last goal to reach in coaching. If that's the case and it isn't just about money there may be no offer that will keep him here.
If he leaves, it is to go home, to wear his colors, and to share in the legacy of his mentor. That is all pretty understandable.
:geaux: Guess if his goal is to get his azz handed to him by tOSU, Wisconsin, Mich St. and possibly Penn St. & Iowa for the next 3 or 4 yrs and have zero shot at conference championships, much less an NC, than certainly he should go to Michigan. If he wants to consistently have opportunities to win conference and national championships then he'll stay at LSU. Pretty simple, especially if the money's the same. :LSU231:
You might be absolutely correct, and I totally agree that all things being equal that LSU is the better deal. However, at this point, I just don't know that the money is the overriding factor. UM is Les' alma mater, there has to be a tremendous amount of emotion tied into that. His mentor was a revered coach there. No matter how much he might or might not be attached to LSU, if UM asks him to come, I just don't know that he can tell them 'NO' a second time. JMHO.
when family calls for help, you go. you dont just show up when gumbo is on the stove and things are peachy. if miles goes its because he feels its his calling. he can rebuild the team he grew up loving and return them to glory as he dreamed under bo. gotta respect that.
Maybe is all anyone has right now, so maybe he WILL follow Bo's advice, and "find your own Michigan"...which is where he is now. Maybe.
Agree. And in your example above what if LSU is in the ditch and they come to you and ask you to come bring back the glory. That's pretty hard to turn down. But the job is going to suck for several years. And the next guy at LSU better love pressure - because Saban and Miles have set the bar pretty high. And yes I will always cheer for Les - not against us of course. EDIT - I acknowledge about 10 posters have said the same thing, wasn't trying to plagiarise.
but if there is something you have always wanted, thats next to impossible to get, you dont get to pick and choose the conditions of which it is offered. this is likely the lifetime opportunity. and a second chance at that! i hope miles stays, but i wont blame him at all if he leaves. and if he leaves with mich being in the shape it is in, well, you know it is truly because that is what is in his heart.
