Did he say what I think he said? I understand what he saying, we had a make shift OL all season. No where near what bama had. Hill is a rare combination of the speed, size, and all the things needed by a RB. I think at the end of the year, the recognition will be seen. Hawk being a RSF is one to keep an eye on.
I agree that I hope this will fire the Tigers up. I will say it may be that Hill was left off because of his suspension. You know sports writers are hypocritical stuffed shirt bastids. They may have been "making a statement".
He got left off because the idiots who make these lists got a lot of stats put in front of them and picked the guys with the higher overall numbers. Other than TD's, the sexy numbers are not in Hill's favor. Doesn't matter anyway...he needs to prove he's mature enough to handle his celebrity or preseason accolades won't be the only thing he misses out on this year.
Your last point is the point. A lot of the media followed this saga throughout the off season. They are not going to sing his praises and most aren't even sure of the games he will be available. TJ Yeldon is already special, regardless, and I have him ahead of the gurlyman.
when you come right out of high school and run for 1,000 yards on the SEC as a true freshman, you deserve the praise you get. here's the last 5 true freshman to do it: Darren McFadden 2005 -- 176 att, 1113 yds, 6.32 ypc, 11 TD 2006 -- 284 att, 1647 yds, 5.80 ypc, 14 TD 2007 -- 325 att, 1830 yds, 5.63 ypc, 16 TD NFL Draft: 2008 / Round: 1 / Pick: 4 Marcus Lattimore 2010 -- 249 att, 1197 yds, 4.81 ypc, 17 TD 2011 -- 163 att, 818 yds, 5.02 ypc, 10 TD (blew out his knee after 7 games) 2012 -- 143 att, 662 yds, 4.63 ypc, 11 TD (blew out his knee after 9 games) NFL Draft: 2013 / Round: 4 / Pick: 131 Michael Dyer 2010 -- 182 att, 1093 yds, 6.01 ypc, 5 TD 2011 -- 242 att, 1242 yds, 5.13 ypc, 10 TD 2012 -- DNP 2013 -- Louisville T.J. Yeldon 2013 --175 att, 1108 yards, 6.33 ypc, 12 TD Todd Gurley 2013 -- 222 att, 1385 yds, 6.24 ypc, 17 TD
Well, if Hill would have played 4 more games like those guys, I'm sure he would have accomplished this feat as well. Dude, seriously, you are the guy that Jeremy Hill punched in the fucking face, aren't you?
You know, he probably would have. But those prognosticatin' types don't know that. All they know is what's on a stat sheet. That's why we're under the radar this year. That's why we're going to f*ck some shit up!
no, i'm just not an idiot. fine, let's take out ALL the returning SEC backs that had more carries than Hill last year (Gurley, Perkins, Scott, Yeldon, Mason, Neal). Even when you do that, Hill doesn't stand out as anything special... BY TOTAL RUSHING YARDS 808 yards on 138 carries (5.86 ypc) -- Ben Malena, Texas A&M 759 yards on 117 carries (6.49 ypc) -- Keith Marshall, Georgia 755 yards on 142 carries (5.32 ypc) -- Hill 669 yards on 125 carries (5.35 ypc) -- Raymond Sanders III, Kentucky 658 yards on 120 carries (5.48 ypc) -- Marlin Lane, Jr, Tennessee BY YPC 759 yards on 117 carries ( 6.49 ypc ) -- Keith Marshall, Georgia 808 yards on 138 carries( 5.86 ypc ) -- Ben Malena, Texas A&M 658 yards on 120 carries ( 5.48 ypc ) -- Marlin Lane, Jr, Tennessee 669 yards on 125 carries ( 5.35 ypc ) -- Raymond Sanders III, Kentucky 755 yards on 142 carries (5.32 ypc) -- Hill
To be fair, Hill didn't play much against the September cupcakes, which would have likely padded his stats. Blue was the man in those games.
