New England Patriots - Eric Reid, S, LSU Eric Reid is the best player available, and the Patriots obviously need some help in the secondary. A cornerback doesn't fit this spot because most of the top options are off the board. A playmaking safety like Reid would be a welcome addition to New England's secondary. 28. Eric Reid is NOT a first rounder. Not after this year, and you can't go off of his success from last season when he had Tyrann Mathieu, Morris Claiborne, and Ron Brooks all in that secondary.
Do McCarron and Murray not even get consideration in the 1st round? With only 2 QBs on that list(Geno Smith and Barkley), I'd think the need for a QB would be greater than just 2 teams. I know drafting for need and possibly over-looking the best player available can have consequences, but I believe QB is a position you just can't bypass. I think the Cardinals and Raiders(not to mention the teams who recently drafted a QB, but look like he may not be the answer longterm:Browns, Jags, Eagles, maybe Bills?) should go QB in the next draft. Both will probably pick around 10-15. Either of the QBs seem like a decent pick midway through the 1st. Plus, I'd like to see both gone for our game next year.
I was talking with a draft guy the other night, he still thinks Reid is having another good year. He tells me that many teams still have Reid high on their boards. The time off before the Bowl will help all the players. A health LSU team is gonna be a good one to see in a bowl. Simon coming back for another year will see his stock take a large rise.
