Maybe the offense should spend more time practising playing defense when interceptions happen. Anyone know how much time is spent on this situation in practises?
The stat's look great Clair, and I do agree that Lee is doing quite well if compared to Matt Stafford. The problem is the impact of his interceptions. 4 of them are now pick 6, 1 more was run back to the 7 yard line. That's pretty hard to do in one year, and we're barely passed the halfway mark, and he hasn't played full time. So he isn't given a free pass either, is basically what I am trying to say. I know he's getting coached to stop locking in on one receiver, and yet he continues to do it. I am concerned maybe he can't be coached to avoid it. I am having a hard time thinking of another QB who has been worse at locking in on receivers more than Lee has been. I hope he breaks out of it. He's got great talent and a gun. He could be special before it's over with.
On offense, no one wants to tackle the ball carrier...on defense no one can tackle the ball carrier... :dis: Maybe we have some special teams player that can play...
people have short memories... JaMarcus was just as bad. For all his faults (and there are many), he has never laid the total goose egg. Anyone remember J-Rock's 1st start? the 6-10 with 2 INT's and 0 TD's dominance in the swamp? Lee has his 1-2 picks a game, but at least he has the 2-3 TDs to go with it. That's more than a lot of other freshmen can say. If he progresses at the same from between year 1 and year 2 as Stafford and Russell did, then he is going to be fine. Seriously, guys, what did you really expect from a FRESHMAN quarterback in the SEC?
Ok, Jarrett Lee shouldnt stare down his receivers. He shouldnt have tried to squeeze that ball into lafell on the first play of the UGA game. Lets take a look at Jarett Lee's INT's - Appy State, who cares. Auburn - Didnt effect the outcome of the game, in fact Lee more than made up for it. Florida - Didnt matter, we were getting smoked. South Carolina - Didnt effect the outcome of the game, and he made up for it. UGA- First one was costly, but he drove us down the field and we scored on the next drive to tie. Why did crowton put him in that position anyway. 1st and 10 first play of the game, if you want to pass do it out of play action in the I, and throw it deep, that way if its picked, its more like a punt. Second Int vs. UGA, same thing, what the hell was crowton thinking, you are killing the UGA front 7 with Charles Scott, and on 1st and 10 you call a pass play with every receiver's route to the right side of the field???? Horrible throw, but shouldnt have been put in that position. 3rd int vs UGA, we were down and Lee was trying to make a play with the clock running out. The defense. Jai Eugene cant stay on his feet, Harry Coleman when he isnt missing tackles he is blowing deep coverage, and so is Curtis Taylor, but they have all the time to pound their fist into their chest, our linebackers suck, with the exception of Ryan Baker, but he dosent see the field. Darry Beckwith is Cameron Vaughn reborn, a stud his freshman year but ****e the rest of his career. Sheppard is fast but is never in position, Perry Riley is good against the run, but a waste of space in the passing game. Our defensive all world line has been sub par. Tyson Jackson has some sacks, but for the most part has not played to his potential, neither has 432nd year senior Kirston Pittman. As a matter of fact the only D lineman who has been stellar has been rahim alem. Drake Nevis has been good at times. And im tired of the talk that its our defensive coaches fault, or their schemes are wrong. It may be their fault that they have not motivated these kids, or gotten through to them where they need to be, or how to tackle, but the scheme is there, every play we got burned on this year, is a play that should have been stopped because the right call was made. If you want to blame the DC's for not gettin on these kids asses, and not being able to recognize where they are suppossed to be, thats fine, but the scheme is there. This isnt all Jarett Lee's fault, this kid has been asked to do the impossible, and his defense dosent even have his back. So im calling out this defense (not that it matters or anyone cares) There are no leaders on this defense, and they are spineless, and classless. This is not an LSU defense that any of us have been used to seeing on saturday. i will probably get flamed for this so..............fire away....
