To be fair, a pay raise is involved in the majority of coaches taking another job. That being said, it isn't like Kiffin has made any great hires that were completely unexpected. He had one chance to do that with Rodney Garner and he stayed at UGA.

Which is entirely my point. I would also take it further and say that few have ever been quoted saying the things Kiffin said about stealing coaches from other staffs. It will not sit well with his coaching brethren.

A pay raise is involved in 99.9% of coaching moves. Kiffin's hires where predicated on waving the dough in front of vulnerable people. Anyone can do that. As far as Garner is concerned, they didnt wave enough of it.

Kiffin's comments will cause a certain few coaches in the SEC to not think twice about tacking on a cheap TD or 2 if the oppurtunity presents itself.

As for Garner, everything I have read/heard was that the money was right, but the coaching position wasn't. There are a few articles out there that talked about Garner wanting to coach X position and Kiffin wanted him to coach Y position. If it wasn't midnight, I would try to find them.

It was both regarding Garner. Orgeron and him coach the same position and it would have created problems. The money was only 50K more but Georgia gave some log term benefits in a counter that negated that extra money. It wasnt near enough to get Garner's wife to leave her family. If they had doubled Garner's salary, like many of their hires, he would have run naked to rocky top.

Can't argue that. The bank was/is starting to run dry I'm sure.

I'm still holding the "We're going to beat Florida in The Swamp and play Rocky Top all night long" against him.

That definitely wasn't the smartest thing to say, considering the way Florida has handled us the past few years. I thought it was humorous that he tried to get out of it by saying that the AD put him up to it.

I still feel like you should have beaten us in 2006, could have beaten us in 2007, and played decent in 2008.

Aside from the Florida comments, I also found the Oakland bashing humorous as well.

We very well could have you in '06, but you are being entirely too generous about '07 and '08. We weren't in the same league as UF in those two games.
