All Hail Lane Kiffin I wouldn't think this kind of chest thumping bravado will sit well with many in the coaching fraternity.
All Head Coaches in the SEC are arrogant, some just aren't as obvious. But you're absolutely right, they'll enjoy kicking his ass if they can. I think he'll hurt Ga and Bama recruiting more than us. They recruit a lot of the same area.
You can have a bitchin set of tools and still find a sh!tty mechanic. His point will be better served by building that first car. In due time, he just might. "All is fair in Love and War". I like a guy who is gonna step up and beat his chest, something uncommon for a head coach of the Raiders. His message to everyone is ya better step up. Well, I think we are doing just that. So phuck em. :geaux:
What makes Kiffins statement even funnier is when you consider the circumstances surrounding these hires. - The South Carolina recruiting coordinator was his brother-in-law who got a substantial raise. - Lance Thompson from Alabama was just about to start a messy divorce in T-Town and doubled his salary. - Orgeron got a substantial raise. - Gran from Auburn had been fired and didnt have a job. What a coup for Kiffin. Wave the greenbacks and get people out of dodge. I would say a blind monkey could have done the same thing.
Thanks for catching that. I dont know how I got the extra "c" in there. Can one of the mods please fix the topic title?
Messy divoice? That's news to me. Details? I agree. This doesn't show some amazing ability by Lane, and I still question his ability as a HC. Tennessee needs great recruiters, because they don't have great home-state talent. I wonder how well they will be able to recruit there, but even if they have tremendous success recruiting, I think it is a problem to have a staff full of guys known for their ability to recruit - and not necessarily as the best coaches.
Kiffin seems to be putting the cart before the horse. Usually a new coach will establish himself and prove he can win before making comments like that and the little jabs he took at Spurrier. It is really easy to talk the talk, I just hope he can back it up.
