This has to be a direct reflection of Les Miles' ability to develop a quarterback. If it wasn't there wouldn't be qb's on this list way higher than Harris that haven't even taken a college snap yet.
I wouldn't have gone as high as 30 but I would have said higher than 73 based on potential. And the fact that I'm only familiar with the top QB's in college as opposed to the NFL where it would be easier to rank them. This year's #1 is Andrew Luck who will lead the Colts to the Superbowl using only fully inflated footballs.
But Harris DID take college snaps and was far less than impressive. I'm not surprised or concerned by the ranking. I'd be both surprised and concerned if a post season ranking had him that low.
This is just like preseason rankings, meaningless rankings to give something to discuss. We shall see once the season starts. I think Harris could be a very solid QB if we become more diverse in our formations and play calling.
It means not being able to know what play is coming based on personnel and formation. I expect a lot of running all season. Although I would use the McNeese game to test the passing attack before Miss ST.
LSU will be so dominate in the running game against McNeese that Harris won't throw very much. Miles would rather not show anything at all to Moo U than let Harris fine tune his passing game.
Where the hell else are you going to put a QB with almost no starts under his belt. It's all bs and meaningless just as if Bengal B made a list. Or red.
