I didn't see the offers from Tennessee and Notre Dame, only look sees. Do you have confirmation that they offered him? If they did offer him, I agree that he will get a third star. Even though ND is having a down year, their recruiting classes over the last 2 years have been ranked fairly high so they are particular about who they offer.

Tennessee definitely offered. I don't believe ND extended an official offer, but they were very interested.

tboy, a few things. Tennessee did offer, and if you do a little research, you will find he has a very decent list of offers. Second, when did fans like you, appoint yourselves to the LSU coaching staff? Do you decide who the LSU coaches should or should not offer? Just because you may have a membership to one of the recruiting services, does not mean you know what or who the LSU coaches really want. It's not a democracy, you have NO say in the matter. Also, neither one of these services has any film on Alex Hurst. That is the main reason he is a 2 star recruit at this point, and may continue to be now that he has committed, not some random bench press listed on a recruiting page. Lastly, LSU has 8-10 scholarships & are worth more than gold IMO. Do you really think the LSU coaches going to throw away a scholarship on a player who can't help our football team?

All we need to know is that he came down and camped at one of LSU's camps..and he earned an offer. Our coaches saw him first hand and put him through the drills that they wanted to see him perform in, and he earned an offer...is there really anything else we need to know?

hurst will probably be a guy we will have to be developed but with that size he will be ok....In my opinion he was an insurance policy.......one question should we have to resort to recruiting 2 start players but thats just me thinking.......

As mentioned, he's a 2 star because there's no film on him. Our coaches have him rated higher than that, although I don't believe we viewed him as a "must get" type guy. Just going off a gut feeling, I'd say he's more about depth which isn't a bad thing considering how little we have at OT right now.

Exactly, what I was saying. I thought he probably was close to his reported height because he looks thin in his picture to weigh that much. He doesn't look as broad in the shoulders las our other unheralded OL recruit last year, Dworcyak#%#$ (don't remember the spelling and too lazy to look up), who will definately fill out. However, if he is that tall and big naturally, all he has to do is gain some strength which Moffit will help him do. That is partly why I threw in the bench press number. Now you understand why I said I didn't think he would start right away. However, it is not that frequent that OL do contribute very soon so that is fine.
