Losers always make the big reach because they are desperate and don't really have a system/plan. So they sign someone like Peppers at a salary that looks like the National debt and then can't afford to pay their other DE's so they cut them. The winners pick up the talent the losers cut at a good market value and fit them into their system/plan and get stronger. 2 freaking DAT!!!
I wouldn't go that far, but anyone that is an upgrade at their position is a nice pickup, especially at a market bargain price. Also the fact that he doesn't count towards the final 8/free agent rule is a huge plus. Good move by Loomis, I'd like to see a couple more just like it. It's not like we need anything on the offense as far as starters go and the defense isn't nearly as bad as the talking heads tried to say pre Super Bowl. A couple quality free agents coupled with 2-3 nice draft picks could really elevate the D. This is definitely not the Saints front office of old. Can you imagine coming off a Super Bowl win and actually fielding a better team the next season? Very unSaints like to say the least. As a life long Saints fan I'm still giddy.
What kills me is how Kampman was signed for so much more, but between him and Brown the edge definitely goes to Brown. Mickey Loomis is a football god...
