Now a 3 run double, moves into a tie for 5th place in RBIs with 96. 5 RBIs tonight. Now batting .298. The only time they got him out tonight was a line out to left with Altuve an second base. Incredible.
Trout and Betts are considered favorites based mainly on OPS, but I'm more old school. Martinez is tied for first in batting avg (.335), second in HR (39), and first in RBI (115) for the team with the best record in baseball. Trout has a lot of walks which inflates his OPS and he's on a team that won't make the playoffs. Martinez has better numbers. Bregman is having a better year than Trout and I haven't heard his name mentioned in the MVP race, yet. But I do agree with you that he is worthy of he stays on his current pace.
Since June 2nd: Over 80 games (essentially half a season) 100-309 .324 66 Runs 29 Doubles 24 Home Runs 54 Extra Base Hits 73 RBIs 45 Walks 38 Strikeouts OPS 1.068 The 1.068 OPS would lead all of baseball. Like I said in my initial post, Bregman can be Altuve with much more power. Not many hitters with well over 40 homers and walk as much as Bregman does can think about 200 hits. But that's exactly what these past 80 games represents.
The all important Boston series started tonight. Playoff atmosphere to say the least. Bregman starts the 3 run rally in the 7th with, you guessed it, another double. Then singles in the 8th to ignite another 3 run rally. Fuck y'all, he's winning the MVP. Now batting .300. Astros totally destroyed the best of the Red Sox bullpen not named Kimbrel. Ominous sign for them.
Now officially a half season of baseball for Bregman since June 2: 102-312 .327 68 Runs 30 Doubles 24 Home Runs 55 Extra Base Hits 73 RBIs 46 Walks 38 Strikeouts OPS 1.073 In case anybody is keeping score, over a season that is: .327 136 Runs 48 Hrs 146 RBIs 60 Doubles 110 XBHs 92 Walks 76 Strikeouts 1.073 OPS
