I saw this stat today during the game and had to say WTF. 68 receptions but only at a 5.6 yard per catch clip. That has to be an all time NFL low with that many receptions in a season.
have you seen the offensive line he runs behind? The Saints haven't figured out how to do a screen since they became a franchise.
as soon as he catches a pass, he gets hit. For some reason, Payton can't get him into space. And what happened to the wheel route that was so effective against the Bears last year. I wish they would throw it to him deep a few times, especially if a LB is covering him.
Ranks 97th out of all RBs to record a reception this year. Of the top 60 RB's in # of receptions, Only Stecker and Shaun Alexander have worse per catch avg.
It seems like teams are able to scheme for him out of the backfield and limit his ability to get past the second line defense (generally LBs or press corners.) That surprises me, given his speed and moves, but the numbers tell the tale. It doesn't help that he seems to get the ball on the sideline on those swing passes, which lets the defense pin him better.
thats because he's closer to his security blanket on a screen, the sideline. he probably averages more fumbles per touch than any back in history. when he stays in bounds that is.
