*Bologna. I seriously doubt anyone is telling Earle to only allow LSU fans that will kiss his arse. And you know as well as I do that the bottom of the conversational barrel is scraped plenty by Bama posters who refuse to allow factual information to be entered into the conversation, as it takes all the fun out of the factless LSU/Miles/Jordan Jefferson bashing... **Turn on a radio or read Tidefans itself. "Hey Pawl, I think it's crazy LSU is ranked ahead of Alabama even after we beat Joe Paw and Penn St...on the rowad". Or at Tidefans...thread titles such as "LSU as #1, I don't buy it". (That's a paraphrase, but you know what I'm talking about) Like I said, I don't care...I think it's funny. I wish LSU was #3, personally...but logic and common sense seem to have prevailed at this point. ***Agree 100% ****Agree 100%. It doesn't bother me, as I have stated many times that none of it matters, since we play each other Nov 5th.
Yall should just end the grown adults instead of the rivalry. Or stop selling adult sized jerseys - either way, that will keep them out of the stadium.
I remember reading something about a woman shooting her HUSBAND during an argument after last year's game. No surprise that they were drunk, but still... The guy lived, but that's about the most asinine thing related to the rivalry that I've heard about. As a fan, I would hate it if you guys didn't play every year, but if the violence keeps escalating past a few fights here and there, maybe you've got a point. Still, there would be so much backlash from both sides if the game was not played annually that I don't see it happening.
If a fight started at the game it could very well grow into a disaster involving hundreds. There needs to be present and former players from both schools ,including the coaches, make public announcement comercials on both tv and radio asking the fan bases to show sportsmanship.
Sure you do * alabama has the significant majority of the fanbase within the borders of the state. * a significant portion of those fans never attended the university, and many have never set foot on campus. Many of the fans in this segment rely on local programming for their information regarding the program they adore. * overwhelming media-bias in the state media, much of which promotes a divisive agenda between the two programs. Folks outside the state have a difficult time understanding just how prevalent this bias is ..... and how it shapes public perception. * Auburn has been winning (a lot) over the past 30 years, including a significant winning streak prior to the acquisition of Saban. When a program branded as "little brother" begins rising over the self-proclaimed big brother, there's going to be trouble ... common sense tells us all what will happen in these circumstances. In fact, it is very easy to understand how it got to this point. The real question is .... why has the leadership at both institutions allowed such a bad climate to develop, ... especially knowing it is bad for business for both programs in the long run?
Personally I think it has more do with how our society has changed from a moral standpoint than anything. Rather than your accusation of its all Alabama and the Alabama media's fault. There were examples of it after the LSU/WVU game. Regarding the LSU family who had rocks/stones thrown at them and their vehicle, leading to someone in the family having to be taken to the ER. It is simply the moral decay of our society. Look no further than the guy that got beat down and almost died at the Dodgers game then the fight in the stands at the Raiders/49ers game. But if you wish to simply say its dem mean old Bammers dat has dun dis then by all means have at it. But I don't think that is the genesis of the problem. Both teams have won "alot" so I don't buy it is because Auburn has been winning so much. We've had two national championships and some above avereage seasons over the last 30 years to keep us from getting that desperate. I would venture to say most big time college fanbases are made up of fans who never attended the school. But nonetheless I'm not sure how that has anything to do with it anyway. I simply do not follow your logic on this one. Regarding media bias, I don't doubt the overwhelming population of the state is mostly Alabama fans and as does politics it filters into the media. But there are sections of the state in which the media is slanted toward Auburn and articles I've read and talk shows I've listened to they've contributed just as much to this toxic state the rivalry is in. But either way the most important and relevant thing at the present time is how to fix it. :thumb:
You can believe what you want. But you need to do a bit of research and go back and see how the Arkansas posters, Utah posters, Boise St posters were treated a few years back (two to be exact) when we had a rash of fans from these schools flood the board. They were treated MUCH MUCH more harsh than most any LSU fan that has graced Tidefans. Because they acted MUCH MUCH worse than any LSU fan that graced Tidefans. But believe what you want. There is a helluva lot more Bama bashing allowed here than LSU bashing on Tidefans. You won't see "Phuck Miles and the rest of the corndogs" on Tidefans but I frequently see references similar to this on here regarding Bama. Its your house and your rules. I don't have an issue with it. And when I do I leave, cool off and come back for more fun. Which it is fun to post on this forum. Using Pawl Finebaum as a basis for "what Alabama fans think"? LOL! No need to go any further with this one. And as many "threads" as you site regarding on Tidefans there are MORE posts from posters who have clearly stated they have no problem with LSU being #1. So again, it is how you choose to perceive the information that is in front of you.
You kinda made my point in the first paragraph. The point is, all I had to do was introduce a factual...albeit opposing viewpoint...to a conversation about Jordan Jefferson, and how 18 LSU players were apparently committing perjury by defending him via the legal process. To a man, every response there by a Bama poster was factually void. I presented facts. That's it. So, why then do I get the treatment that Boise, Arky, and Utah fans apparently got when they were acting "MUCH MUCH worse"? I didn't namecall, I didn't bash Bama, nothing. Earle labeled it as "ignorant bickering". My contention is that the thread was absolutely full of ignorance prior to my arrival. Ignorance = not knowing what you're talking about, and none of the posters there knew what they were talking about...it was just an LSU/Jordan Jefferson/Miles bashfest...without merit or facts. Agree about this forum and it's more leniant rules. Sorry, you can try to disown Finebaum all you want, but when the callers end their comment with the words "Roll Tahd"...it's Bama fans. I never said it was the consensus of Bama fans that LSU didn't deserve to be #1. I said there are threads on Tidefans devoted to that belief. There are also Oklahoma fans supporting the same notion. Now, I think it's funny...just like you'd think it's funny if the shoe were on the other foot. But again...FWIW, I wish LSU was ranked #3. I really do.
