*Earle is running the board exactly how he is told. And the rest of us mods are doing the same. Is it a perfect board with a perfect system? Nope. But it accomplishes the end result of what the owner of the board wants which is to provide a BAMA board FOR Bama fans that keeps those (BOTH Bama fans and rival fans) off the board who cannot talk about Bama football or football in general without scraping the bottom of the conversational barrel. Is it slanted toward Bama fans? Yep, as it should. Tidefans isn't everybody's flavor of icecream, even amongst A LOT of Bama fans. But, we do our best to bring as much balance as we can to ensure rival fans have the right to share their views without being bombarded by stupidity and ignorance. Are we perfect in doing it? Nope. But I am practicing at walking on water and after I get that down I'll be working on raising the dead. **Most Bama fans I talk to LOVE and ARE GLAD that we're not ranked ahead of LSU. So I'm not sure where you're getting this. I'm sure there are some who are peeved but from my observation most say "We're right where I want us to be." ***Regarding who's had the tougher schedule. Personally I believe LSU has had the tougher schedule. But as the schedule plays out it is beginning to even out. And again, as many have alredy stated it doesn't matter. We play each other. ****What do you expect? A lot of Bama fans can't stand LSU or their fans. That's just a fact. But I think it is fair to say that street is a two way one and has just as much traffic in both lanes. I don't see any less bias against bama on this board as I do Tidefans. So at that point its just how much are you going to let it bother you? Its SEC football. That's how its suppose to be. After we play and the regular season is over, and the bowl season is here many of those SAME people that were hatin' on LSU will be pulling for them in their bowl game. It evens out.
I must say that tusk, cadillac , and the buzzard all represent Alabama with class and good hearted sportsmanship. You seldom see this from others that come here to our board. To add to that list, cnl reb and gdf are also fine ambassadors of their schools. I wish more rival posters would have the class these fans have. I see no problem with them being here as rival posters. Their insight is appreaciated.
most thankfully, I live in the state of georgia and can avoid the worst of the iron bowl rivalry. If it were up to me , I'd end the rivalry .... as the bad has reached the point where it far outweighs any good once associated with the tradition. lucky me, I'm surrounded by Leghumpers up here in the A-T-L
I couldn't agree more with this. Like I said in another thread the spirit of the rivalry has gone past the point of toxic and ignorant. You've got grown adults (both men and women) ending life long friendships, getting in physical and verbal altercations, and basically acting like uncivilized cavemen. I'd rather move one of the teams to the east division and play on the same rotational basis as the other out of division teams are scheduled. I think the Tennessee rivalry with Bama has calmed down and is now headed back toward what it used to be before Fulmer so I see no problem in keeping that as Bama's constant out of division team to play every year. But the Iron Bowl needs a break.
I think the rivalry has done more harm for both school's image than good. Harvey was the final straw. The one that breaks the camel's back is when someone dies over it. I don't think I'm over exaggerating it either. From the outside it looks bad. I remember all the bama and au posters at each other's throats on the sec board after the harvey thing.
It's been building for many years. I'm not sure what event or events triggered the rivalry to begin to move toward this point. I really don't. I know there's always been some pretty harsh banter back and forth but it just seems its gotten progressively worse over the last five to ten years. But I agree. It wouldn't surprise me if the next "headline" story is someone getting beat to death, shot or stabbed. :dis: I don't understand why people can't cheer like crazy and passionately for their team during the game, then talk a little trash and banter afterwards then go have a beer or get on with everyday life. I like bantering and doing a bit of smack talk after a win against a rival to some of my rival buddies but that's it. I don't like to continue to talk trash to the point where I've pissed them off. That's when its not fun for anybody.
