BB, tell Earle to release the noose. It isn't just Bama fans, but Oklahoma fans as well that don't seem to enjoy the fact that they got jumped by LSU in the AP poll. FWIW, it won't matter for long anyway. The BCS comes out soon, and of course we'll play Bama in a month or so...and assuming we're both undefeated when that happens, that will end all the nonsense. With that said, I do think LSU has played the tougher schedule thus far. Bamabuzzard mentioned seeing message board posters claiming Penn St. wasn't a tough opponent (they're not) and Arkansas was overrated, you can go to Tidefans right now and see the same things said about Oregon and West Virginia. That too will go away, but it'll take all year. Both of those teams will likely win their respective BCS conferences. Hell, every single week there's a poll on Tidefans...a contest of sorts...to pick that week's upsets. Whoever's playing LSU gets a lot of love weekly...although it seems to be waning. I haven't checked this week, but I'd be surprised if UF upsetting LSU didn't have quite a few votes. Bama beat the snot outta Florida, and I'm sure they'd love to see Florida come back the next week and upset LSU. Makes their schedule (to this point) look better.
I guess I should rephrase that. I have not heard anyone that 'knows' football say that Bama is not an elite team. They absolutely are an elite team. In my opinion, some were questioning your early schedule of N. Texas and Kent St., while we've played the toughest schedule in the nation so far. But, we can't really make too much fun of it. Our OOC schedule next year includes that same N. Texas team that you guys played, Idaho, and I read where we just signed the contract to play Towson. Pretty weak. I hope it's because we couldn't find any quality opponents that wanted to play us.
On 1210 am just the other day one of the experts(?) say that computers used by the bcs have bama with the harder schedule than lsu. No joke that's what he said. Mississippi state, Kentucky and northwestern has brought us down, he says. He also said that bama will debut as #1 in the bcs. This was Monday I believe around 3pm that this was said. Anyone else heard this?
Bama has had the tougher SEC schedule to date, with Arky and Florida in the swamp. That stuff evens out obviously, moving forward. Your OOC schedule tilts things on your side of the ledger through the season.
That's funny. Yes you have Bama in T-Town and we don't. Your Oregon game is the tilt in schedule. I would say that our Happy Valley game vs your Morgantown excursion is a wash. Playing in the swamp and in the barn's backyard is and was a tough challenge for Bama, but like you said, you've got to come to our house.
Correct Tusk, except that in the end, a 4th place Big 10 school will not = a Big East champion. (even though in reality, that's probably about the same thing...) The Oregon game is what seperates us in the long run. But WVU (assuming they go on and win the Big East) looks good on LSUs national resume. Point being, as of now, LSU has the tougher schedule. As we move forward, things even out, with you guys playing Arky vs us playing MSU and you guys visiting UF vs us hosting KY, it's already started to even out a bit. Funny, because at the beginning of the season, our MSU road game on a Thursday night was what a lot of pundits were claiming would be the game we lose. As expected, MSU was again highly overrated. None of this matters of course, because the west will be won or lost in Tuscaloosa on 5 NOV 2011.
Unless of course Bama/LSU find a way to slip up before or after the big conflagration. Then that schedule you referred to, is going to get waved around like flags on veterans day. That is, I'm sure what everyone around here are hedging their bets on.
I visit several message forums also .... and quite frankly it is disingenuous to suggest that alabama isn't viewed as an "elite" team by nearly everyone this season. .... that simply isn't true, IMHO.
