Until they line up across from LSU in the Dome and try to take that crystal away from this team ... That Tide's gonna roll then, brother ... round the bowl and down the hole ... Les is gonna stick Saban's skull in a Superdome crapper and continually flush it for 60 minutes
In all honesty it makes me pissed if I let my mind go there. It's why I have been training my brain to say BRING 'EM and we'll phuck 'em. Don't let those lucky, filthy bastids stop you from enjoying our run...which ain't over YET. We have to get there. OUR HOUSE!!
yeah its ****ty really. but if you ask yourself who are the top 2 teams, its clear as day. especially given the aftermath from this weekend. it couldnt have worked out any better for the gumps I suppose. but at least we may have a get out of jail free card if we lose one the next two. thats the bonus for beating the gumps round 1.
We did lose our final regular season game to Arkansas in '07, but in the following week we dropped to #7 if I remember correctly. We were only able to launch into the title game with a huge upset by Pitt over WVU and another "upset" of Oklahoma over Mizzou(I also can't remember of the Civil War Game upset had anything to do with it; don't think it did). In that sense, we were the beneficiaries of this late loss consequence, albeit rightfully so. I'm still trying to come to grips with the latter sentiment.:bncry:
Maybe this has been said, but I haven't seen it. If lsu beats arkansas and then lost to georgia, not only would we drop out of the bcsnc, we would not even be in a bcs bowl. That is unless lsu and bama are 1 and 2 in the final bcs ranking. So, hypothetically, we could be ranked number 3 in the final bcs rankings and not be in a bcs bowl. I think that would ruffle a few feathers nationally about how bad the bcs really is.
Personally, I would doubt after beating Arkansas that the voters would drop us below them after a loss to Georgia. So we would still be in a BCS bowl(Probably Sugar) most likely with an at large bid as the #2 SEC team.
the only way 3 teams from the same conference can be in the bcs is if the number 1 and 2 teams in the final bcs standings are from the same conference and not the conference champions. So in that sense, unless bama and lsu are 1 and 2, one of the two will not be in a bcs bowl.
Actually, what I've seen suggests if we beat and Arkansas (another highly ranked team), then lose to Georgia, we stand a great chance of pulling an Oklahoma/Nebraska and going to the BCSNG anyway. Leaving us completely out of the BCS will be a hard sell and certainly expose the media bias at levels the media might not be comfortable with. The team that was #1 most of the year lose a conference championship game and subsequently not even get a BCS invite? Ouch... We lose to Georgia, and don't go to BCSNG, we should certainly get an at-large to another bowl over Bama, since Georgia will get the Sugar. Probably the Orange or Fiesta considering Va. Tech (Orange Bowl tie) and Okie St. (Fiesta Bowl tie) poll position should one or the other win out.
