There were a lot of things bad about the offense tonight, but it all starts up front. The LSU OL under Grimes the last few years leaves a lot to be desired. The gameplan and play calling sucked pretty bad. Our TEs can't block for shit and we waited until late in the game to involve one in the passing game. Did we rhrow more than one pass to a RB? We still are pedestrian at best at QB. Oh yes and that Bama defense is pretty damn good. We need a real OC that can recruit and develop QBs and someone that can build a legitimate SEC offensive line.
Jesus in the press box wearing headsets isn't going to shine as an OC in the SEC if your O line is the dog shit we saw tonight. On that note if we're not going to develop an O line that isn't feces then let's go back to paying coaches $750k because 7-5 or 9-3 isn't much difference to me .
On a more positive note, we held the number one team in the country who has been destroying opponents to only 10 points. We knew going into this game our O line is only adequate and our qb is decent at best. This season we're trying to land a plane with limited fuel supply in that we currently have an interim coach trying to prevent the season from completely going off the rails. Therefore, looking at a 10-0 loss vs a team that is miles ahead of the rest of college football , just how surprised or disappointed should we be?
Outside of Pocic and a heathy Clapp, I don't see one SEC West/SEC Championship caliber OL on the team. Combine weak talent (Due to multiple years of poor OL talent evaluation) with Grime's hard to execute "Zone Blocking" scheme and you've got problems. This is not going to change over night either. Will take a few years of great OL recruiting and a new OL coach to fix it. Not a good situation.
* Disappointed but not surprised. * As bad as offense was, no Gump defensive score. * Etling is pretty good QB, Gumps superb defense. Play 100 times. Same result. * O line has been suspect all year, Gump defense is superb. Play 1000 times. Same result. * SEC officials are, well SEC officials. If they are in position to influence score, they can. To win you have to take them out, early. Nothing new here, it is just how it is in the SEC. * Harris: if Harris plays he makes at least a touchdown and probably two touchdown difference. Regrettably, they would be Alabama touchdowns. * We had no chance to win without some really innovative, if not trick, plays, and a lot of luck. While we have improved greatly under Coach O, we are basically back to normal, a long way from innovative. An occasional pass to a back or tight end is not the new "West Coast Offense." * A loss is a loss and always will be. I expect at end of year, a 0 - 10 loss against Alabama will be either best or next best against them. * Stop whining. Until we get a better offensive line, quarterback and offensive game plan, it just will not get much better. Prepare yourselves.
Y'all are a riot. How does anyone else score on Bama with less talented OL than LSU? It's not that we don't have talent, it's that we aren't putting them in a position to win.
I read it again. Conspiracy theory or Saban love? I'm guessing from your reaction you meant it as conspiracy theory, though it kind of reads more like the latter.
