Looks like we are FINALLY addressing the DT need. Woods definitely has the physical tools but then he always did and wasn't very productive at LSU. Maybe with the Saints coaching he will start to produce at the level of his physical potential. I sure hope so. I'm still thinking/hoping the Saints do something more via trade or FA to address this though. With the OT pick at #2 I think it's pretty certain that Brown will get traded. They might still be in contact with Washington about Hainsworth. He has 3 years left on his contract and the Saints could trade him before he wants another $100 million contract and in 3 years Woods might be ready to step in. That's a LOT of conjecture for 1 post huh?

I'm just not sold on him...Woods and McCoy came out of highschool as 1 & 2 as the top DTs in the nation and Woods never produced and just stood up and played pattycake but hopefully he proves me wrong. Would've thought Rickey Sapp, Dekoda Watson or L.Blout would've been the pick

This is what I saw too. He didn't play low enough and didn't get any push. I wanted a big DT, but he never impressed me at LSU. If Dorsey isn't dominant in the NFL why will Woods be very good? Something to ponder. Obviously, I hope our LSU guy turns out great for our Saints. Someone has to light a fire under the big man's butt though.

I actually wonder how Dorsey would do in a 4-3 base defense not 3-4. Ricky Sapp went to the Eagles think he will do pretty good definitely would've rather him on Woods.

Yeah, I thinking Dorsey's being played out of position in Kansas City. I think Woods has suffered from the coaching instability at LSU and could flurish under Gregg Williams.

I think his DL coach may make a difference, but I don't see Williams making a huge difference with a DT. I think Williams makes a difference in the secondary and with LB's., perhaps even with pass rushing DE's, but Woods is basically a run stuffer.

They must see something or they wouldn't have made that trade up. I'm hoping for the best. DT is someone you can rotate in and get some playing time.

They said in the paper this morning that the D linemen they wanted kept coming off the board prior to their pick. Guess they didn't want to lose Woods so they traded up.
