There was tons of intelligence indicating the possibility that Saddam still had the capability and in fact may have been continuiing to manufacture biological weapons. Mubarak told Gen Franks that they were there. French, German, Russian, British and Chinese intelligence believed that Saddam had the capability and may well still be producing chemical and bio weapons. You see, Red, there's more to it than the tangible proof of weapons, though certainly they thought they existed. If Saddam had been let off the hook for the umpteenth time you can be GD sure he would have been right back in the business of WMDs and mass killings.

And they were never let back in to see if he produced more. Saddam's reticence in the facce of certain death indicated he had something to hide.

I wish you were so open minded about our current President.

Sorry. I didn't realize you were at the White House when all this went down.

Rags killing rags. How is it our problem again? Saddam was not in league with Al Qaeda and possesed no WMD's at the time. Whatever Mubarak or the Chinese thought, our own inspectors were the best source of info. And they were ignored. There is no justification for this.

I wish you were too. I am, but I spend most of my time shooting down absurd stories that people make up or hear from Beck and can neither back up nor argue. I have a number of problems with Obama. I just can't sit idly by why you try to paint him as worse than Bush when he hasn't a single failure to compare with Bush's. Nor can I sit while you defend and excuse Bush's worst transgressions.

Well, reporters like Bob Woodward interviewed insiders and confirmed lots of what happened and he has three books on Bush that are very revealing. True historians are starting to publish accounts as well. Dub is not coming off too good.

Don't be absurd. The inspectors were not ignored. Their findings were just one more piece of intel. Again, whether Saddam had to capacity to develop the weapons was just as important as whether he actually had them. Based upon solid intelligence, al-Zarqwari was in northeastern Iraq developing a chemical lab just prior to the beginning of hostilities. That's just another piece of intelligence on top of everything else. There is little doubt that had Saddam been allowed to stay Iraq would now be a safe haven for terrorists and they would have wmd's to boot. You are so intent on destroying Bush that you are willing to throw your own country under the bus to do it. Bush's job was to protect America and that's what he did. War was Saddam's choice, not Ws.

Bush has never been cut one ounce of slack from the media. I don't expect them to start now.

FWIW, we were working a site in vicinity of Tikrit in '03. Hauling off SA-5 rockets. My platoon was part of the security detail and during the operation I struck up a conversation with the Iraqi that owned the trucks that we were loading the rockets onto so they could be hauled off and destroyed. He was very well spoken and educated for an iraqi. I asked him if he thought there were any wmd's. He said he had no doubt they were there but that we would not find them. I asked him why is that? He said SH had been working to get rid of them for quite some time and that he would have barrels of nerve agent hauled off into the desert and burried. When they returned he would have the crew killed so that no one knew where they were. Believe it..... or not.

I don't believe it. Saddam was a kind and generous soul who was unfairly targeted by Bush for perceived sins of the past. If you could find a live Kurd he would speak kindly of Saddam.
