    Chris Young, San Diego Padres

8-3 2.14 ERA, .197 BA against (leads majors among starters)

    That's unreal.

Hopefully he gets voted in by the fans as the extra player selected.

You can vote for him on mlb.com

Two problems with the All-Star format:

    1) Every team has to send at least one player. Plenty of teams (the Reds come to mind) do not have anyone who deserves to be there.

    2) Idiot managers who select the reserves. Tony LaRussa and Jim Leyland are pretty big morons. Two seasons ago, Ozzie Guillen (a very dumb and crazy man) selected almost exclusively White Sox to play.

    Griffey? But I do agree.

Edgar Renteria should have been in there.

Glad Peavy made it, too. His W-L stats always suck because he gets like 1 run a game in support every year, but has been dominating the last few years.

Michael Young SS from Texas should not have been picked as a reserve, he is not having his typically solid season

Orlando Cabrera (.337 BA, 48 RBI) from LAA should have been chosen

Not sure if Young was the "token" choice for Texas, if so then Sosa (63 RBI) should have been that choice instead and should have replaced Manny Ramirez (43 RBI), who is not having a Manny-like season

    Edgar Renteria: .324 10 HR 41 RBI
    Jose Reyes: .317 4 HR 34 RBI

I'm not saying Renteria is better than Reyes, so Martin can pull that giant wad out of his panties right now. I'm just saying that someone with numbers like Edgar's needs to be in over JJ (I will fall apart in the 2nd half of the season) Hardy.

Reyes has like 8000 stolen bases, so the numbers you show are their simply to bolster your case.

read the original post, i am not saying Edgar is more deserving than Reyes, because he is not.

I am saying he is more deserving than JJ Hardy.

Chris Young throws 7 more shutout innings, lowering his ERA to an exact 2.00.

He currently leads the voting for the extra player being voted in. I hope he makes it. Somehow Oswalt is a close 3rd, but he is underserving of consideration with an ERA over 3.50.

    john maine

    10 wins. 2.7 era

9 k vs the disastros last night.

    not an all-star?

cole hamels is an all star with far worse numbers. of course he pitches in that little league park, but still, maine is much better this year.

roy oswalt as well, not near the numbers of maine. not ben sheets either.

beltran should not be at the all star game.

i am glad Beltran made it, because one of the players chasing him was Andruw, speaking of people who don't deserve to be there.

I am pleased with the way the braves were represented. Francoeur is having a real good year, but the NL is entirely too deep in the OF. The only real snub was Edgar.
