They still have some good athletes there. Plus he isnt being recruited based on #'s.

There is a pretty big LSU presence in the student body and a former LSU player is an assistant coach.

McCarron is a good QB and deserves to be highly rated IMO but that is the reason why LSU will not be one of the top on his list under serious consideration. With Russell Shepard committed, it would be a bad decision for him to consider us in the end. We will not land that type of highly rated QB unless it is Cody Green. But that is a longshot since he matches what we already have in RS.

If Cody comes to LSU it is because he doesn't fear battling for the spot and he could accept a postition change down the line if RS does not.

I can't say for sure, but I have reason to suspect he'd be a Bama commit even with a different coach at the helm of the program. It's a lot like some of the kids you have in state, they are LSU bound regardless. Being in Mobile, and with the past staff's basically ignoring the area, it's a toss up.

Speaking of Shepard, any chance he ends up playing in the defensive backfield?

It's always possible, but I doubt it. He's so athletic with the ball that if he doesn't pan out as a QB, I think the staff will use him in a Percy Harvin role and just find ways to get him the ball and let him go.

I agree but I said nothing about the coaches just who we have committed at QB.

Shepard wants to start out as a QB and based on his character and what he has said in the past he will probably switch to another offensive position if needed to. He just wants to help the team win.

I know its your school TB but from what Im hearing the thumb screws have been tightened by gump influence at St. Paul's. Coaching staff, administrators and parents are all getting, and I quote from a close friend, "a big time vibe." A large number of the kids in that school have red elephant club members for parents and they have ramped up their activity since Saban arrived. Im sure you are hearing something similar regardless of the ties we may have there.

That is extremely exaggerated. My family used to be REC members and it is the most overrated thing in the world. All they do is listen to speakers....they arent some secret society. Plus, St. Pauls is an extremely diverse group. Half of the students' parents arent from the area, rather they sent their kids to school there once they moved to town because it is one of the better schools. There is a huge Ole Miss, LSU, Georgia, Rhodes, Virginia, and even Tulane influence. Just off the top of my head the people that run the school went to Rhodes, Sewanee, Naval Academy, South Alabama, Auburn, UVA -- Alabama fans couldnt take over even if they wanted to, which they dont...I know it sounds extremely snobby but the school is a little better than that to allow that to happen.

EDIT: Just wanted to say you are right in that the excitement level is there, sort of like the spring game. But a lot has to do with some of their peers being committed to Bama, which is pretty cool for the high schoolers. The people that were already Bama fans, and there are a lot of them, are extremely excited (mainly that Alabama is giving the area some attention) but they wont be able to influence the other fans.
