Yeah. The 1st guy worked for a dollar. Benmoche gets paid but I don't know how much. It's ridicululous, I know, that a CEO of one of the largest Property and Casualty insurance companies in the world should get a salary, but blame it on that darn capitalism.
i said nothing about "should", but you SHOULD disclose it if you want to be trusted here. my concern wasnt the money but i didnt believe he would do it for nothing. if they said $1 salary, as red said, "whats his bonus" or the dozens of other ways to hide payment. This thread is about AIG repaying the government. I am not being distrustful by failing to include the CEO's salary. It has nothing to do with the thread.
The 1st CEO, after the bailout, worked for a $1 salary. The current one makes considerably more. Since you were being a smartass I figured I'd throw you a curve.
Man, I wish we'd take our queue from AIG and repay China what we owe them. To me, this debt is ONE OF the biggest threats to our national security. It would be foolish for China to call in those notes, but they could if they wanted to and it would lead to economic collaspe. Then again, I guess a billion dollars is just an interest payment when your talking about trillions.
I agree, and what we should also do, is cut them off from importing their crappy products to the United States.
It's damn stupid to keep borrowing. A balanced budget amendment should be law. The Feds spend money stupidly. I posted some of these in another thread. There is no way in hell you will get the democrats to make the cuts that has to be made. They will scream to tax those evil rich people. Whole dept need to be eliminated. Start with the dept of education. Before the 1970's states took care of education. Since the Feds got involved we have steadly moved down the list compared to other countries. Between the teachers unions and the federal goverment education has not improved and cost much more. Another to cut is HUD. There is nothing HUD does that the states couldn't do themselves. Many more can be cut. The dea is another. Nothing the dea does that the FBI couldn't do. ATF is another. The FBI could handle all law inforcement at the federal level. You have to be serious. Don't cut a hundred million here or there. Cut the hell out of this giant goverment. While your at it get rid of the trillion dollar bullcrap health care stupidity. Another giveaway to buy democrats votes and continue to grow the socialist nanny state where big brother is all in your business with the IRS ready to skull frik you. Cut these redundant agencies. It can be done. Give the power back to the states and pay the debt down with every dollar saved. No new intitlement programs.
