Remember this is coming from someone who probably lives next to campus, has no kids, and works for LSU so probably doesn't pay for tickets either.
That's good to know. I tell people all of the time that tickets are available outside the stadium . . . even for big games. There were tickets available yesterday. Many folks have multiple tickets that they don't always use but won't give up. They sell them at face price or at a discount to scalpers, who mostly sell them for face value. Too many undercover cops to get away with much scalping these days. A friend of mine learned years ago that most of the fat cats with extra tickets are too dignified to go around holding them up for sale. He stands, well dressed and smiling, at the gates where sideline seats go in and politely asks people if they have an extra ticket. More often than not, someone will just give him a extra ticket and the sonofabitch gets a free seat in the 40-yard line low.
Well, they are . . . but you have to drop some serious cash on the TAF. Something that I dislike, but it has become necessary to fund our well-paid coaches and incredible facilities.
A few years ago, the first year in the new Alex Box, I was walking up to the stadium and asked a guy where the ticket office was located. He said, "You need a ticket? Have one of mine." We were on the second row directly behind home plate. To this day, I'm shocked someone offered me such a good ticket--wouldn't even let me buy him a Coke. For the '11 Arkansas game, we went out the stadium to try to find tickets for #1 vs. #3. Affordable ones were not to be found online. We called the ticket office at 8 a.m. and bought three tickets for $50 each--six rows behind the LSU bench on the 50 yard line. We're trying that tactic again this year.
I over promised one of my 2 tickets for this game so had to find one for me yesterday. There were many for sale and I bought one for face value in the lower part of the south end zone. I've had season tickets for 30 years (Sect 423 old south end zone upper deck)and I go to the games, stay all game long no matter the weather or score. I have always seen many begin to leave as early as the second quarter (to my disgust). However the way things stand with TAF, season tickets seem to take your first born son to acquire and there is quite a waiting list. I don't think it is fair to rag on those who complain about people leaving early. I am sure those that do complain would buy them and attend as true fans given the chance.
I need 4 tix for the Arky game. We usually have them already secured by now but things are falling through. What number did u call?
The LSU ticket office the morning of the game. I plan to be IN that office at 8 a.m. on game day this year. The seats we bought we super sweet, right behind the running backs and quarterbacks. My daughter was a 5th grader then, and she got a picture with Ron Brooks (just missed out on Honey Badger), Tracy Wolfson, and all of the Golden Girls. She also made friends with Ryan Baker's grandma and aunt because it was Senior Day, and we were sitting in the middle of players' families.
