Officially, yesterday's game was a sellout but according to Verne Lundquist, there were many empty seats. I realize that a 2:30 p.m. kickoff is prime time, but the "atmosphere" in Tiger Stadium is noticeably more ominous for our opponents at night. TV controls everything, but not always for the better.
The only positive thing about the day game is I can watch the replay same day. I just can't watch in real time, 55 years of hex when I do. Dammit. But it is just not LSU at home if the sun is up. The pisser is, if I ever get down for a game, they will probably reschedule for a day game, and that would be the last feakin straw!
Question -- with the SEC Network starting next year, will CBS still have contract for these 3:30 games?
Where does the band sit these days? I ask because CBS' end zone camera is on the south end. When they used a wide shot, the stadium looked full, but there is a large section in the north end zone at the very top that was completely empty.
Officially 86 deg near kickoff, but it felt much hotter than that in the stadium. Even worse since I had to get there around noon to secure good seats in the student section. The CBS guys are right, there were a lot of sections that weren't full, lots of empty seats in the upper decks.
I was in the east upper, only 4 rows up. Hathorne said it was 89 at kickoff, sun was beating down on us, it was HOT!! I'm talking mid Sept hot. Inside the concourse was full of people, watching the game on the closed circuit TV's. If you work inside or not acclimated to the heat, you were going to have a problem in that heat. Leave it to Vern to point it out, he just LOVES LSU
Heck, I think most of our fans would have pointed it out, but much earlier and with much more bombastic fervor.
