A major cause in passing situations for the offensive line looking bad is that the wide receivers were covered amazingly well by the LSU defensive backs. Thus, Todd Boeckman was forced to hold onto the ball way too long.
tOSU screwed up when they stop hitting Wells on short passes out of the backfield. yea , their receivers were pretty much taken out of the game. but wells had some success with catching balls and yards after the catch. but thats coaching, for as much fanfare as Tressel gets he sure didnt make many adjustments that proved to work in the second half.
Absolutely, huge dissapointment for us, though I thought the defense did play a bit better in the second half, except for the penalties. Oh, and the tackling :cuss:
Another thing that was upsetting was the fact that short passes were not given to Brandon Saine, who had proven earlier in the game that he could make some big plays with his hands. It was like Todd wasn't even checking his checkdowns, if there were any to check. When I see QBs like Andre Woodson run the 2 minute offense, when he can't find the open receiver, he always pitches it to the running back. The offensive line was giving plenty of time for him to make a pass like that.
yep. there were times boeckman had those guys but Im not sure if its his delivery or slow decision making. I think it was both. he seemed very indecisive but that was after getting hit in the mouth a few times. i was actually surprised henton? didnt play a lot this game. I figured he was the wildcard that tressel would use once he saw tape of brent schaeffer and woodson once they spread us out. i know he was suspended most of the year for that hooker incident but hell, if hes reinstated, use him.
