After 6 years with Les I expect the fight issues will be handled with class

As of now I have no concern about this issue - I will feel bad for the kids that did the stupid if stupid shows up

There will not be a cover up and Les will not brag about JJ being a leader if he was out at 2am and got into a bar fight. I have faith in Les as a man and his character will show up in the end of this.

If up to 24 Tigers are at a Bar at 2 am I got questions for the staff and the players.

    BUT

If JJ kicked anyone on the ground and that person went to the hospital - I got concerns.

If all this happened and facts come out from the police to back it - I would say players will not play against the Ducks.

I guess Baton Rouge is waiting to see what the police do and I hope the fact we have LSU football players part of this will have nothing to do with the facts of the case.

Les' record indicates that punishments will be handed out to the guilty and not just wind sprints. Les has suspended and dismissed players for public misbehavior before.

Pimp slaps and bench time is the way to go. Dismissing a player is rarely a good thing for youthful transgressions, especially if a kid is on track for a degree.

It would not surprise me if JJ's involvement in this short of simply just being near it results in him being suspended for the Oregon game at the least.

I don't think he will get suspended for just being there

If the police bring a charge against any Tiger I think that Tiger comes to the front of the lline. I will be surprised to here JJ was throwing punches.

Neither do I; hence, "anything short of just being there", meaning, if he was JUST there, then nothing.

If he was involved in it and threw punches/kicks? Suspended.

If he instigated anything, refused to leave and had a "Derek Odom" moment? Suspended.

If a fight broke out and JJ, being a pretty noticable figure, was seen looking on but didn't partake, but people are just saying he did? Not suspended.

This may be out of Les' hands. An felony assault and battery of another student could result in university dismissal. I think Les will dismiss anyone charged with a felony. A misdemeanor charge will probably draw a long suspension. If no charges are filed, then Les may choose a single-game suspension or team punishments for players who were out of line.

With 20 players present, many are going to end up being bystanders and perhaps even victims in a big brawl. Any players responsible for an assault may have several degrees of involvement ranging from simply backing up a teammate to starting a fracas and hurting people.

Les has a lot to sort out and he may have to wait for the police investigation to play out. I suspect he will say that they are innocent until proven guilty and offer little comment. But this is 2 weeks from the opener and the police/prosecutors/lawyers will not get it settled that quickly. Les may have to suspend players immediately and indefinitely and move on with his football team. He can't let this hang around the team's neck all season.

who are the "other players" that's what concerns me. JJ is a big loss at this point because of experience and his wheels, but I damn sure hope he was the most significant one.

Right or wrong, it's probable that there won't be "enough" information by the time the Oregon game rolls around. There is NW and Miss State after that for suspensions.

I think the situation is that if the event is what it appears, that a group of players broke curfew and sent 4 guys to the hospital, then Miles will have to suspend them for a large chunk of the season at least. That means dream season GONE. Since the season will be gone anyway, he just might just decide to to a massive boot to all major offenders to make a BIG point. Especially with Miami in the news and the national viewpoint that college football is out of control and that the players rule the nest.

I think Miles probably views this moment as a defining fork in the road and which route does he want to take with regards to his greater image in college football history. I think he'd like his place to be in the camp of coaches who tried to do the right thing instead of the Bowdens and Carrolls of the world who fall into the win-at-all-costs category.
