Just thought you all would like to know, my sister filed her taxes yesterday and the told her for fiscal year 2013 when she files, if she doesn't have healthcare, it's a 150 dollar tax, if she doesn't have it the following year it goes up to 600. Yipes!!! The reason I do not like this law is because it does nothing to address the rising cost of healthcare, I dig the preventative stuff, but to me this does nothing but put more $ in the hands of insurance companies. Anyway, we've had this argument before, just wanted to share.

Neither of you goose-stepping lunatics live in Louisiana where we paid billions for Charity Hospitals that offered absolutely free health care to anyone who walked in. Well, that bit of Huey Long socialized medicine is going away and they are being closed. Now they will have private sector insurance and go to private sector hospitals. The ones who can pay for insurance will now pay for it. The subsidies for those who can't pay will be cheaper than eight state-run hospitals.

And the working people with existing medical issues can get insured instead of being bankrupted.

And the working freeloaders who don't but insurance won't be able to just walk into an emergency room and get free treatment, and have those costs passed along to you and me.

See that's the thing, my sister isn't a freeloader, she pays for her doctor visits.

So why wouldn't she pay for insurance? In time she will have a major medical issue that will bankrupt her without insurance. A kidney transplant might have her owing $250,000.

A person on food stamps. Living in subsidized housing, with no insurance and working a job making minimum wage. They can be in a wreck. End up on life flight to a level 1 trauma center. The doctors save their life and the bill is $250000. How will they get there money? Sue them? Garnish their wages? take their redistribution check? Can't get blood out of a turnip.

Now lets say I'm in same wreck and situation. I make to much for welfare but after paying my taxes and my bills and costs of living. I can't afford insurance. What will the hospital do to me?
