I see a few recruits that are keeping in touch with LSU. Bryce Butler, and Harry Adams recently on rivals.com. But I wonder if the success of Terrance Toliver and Demetrius Byrd's 1st year...has them thinking they have early shots at PT. Seeing LSU play 7 to 8 times on National TV, is another good reason to come to BR. The Michigan job has to play a part in all this.

Seeing young guys get on the field helps recruiting because coaches can point to that & say, "if you're good enough, you'll play".

However, seeing young guys as starters at the individual recruit's position probably doesn't help recruiting because then they are looking at probably having to wait their turn.

As for being #1, it helps but isn't a huge issue as compared to anywhere else in the top 10.

Good point, But don't you think getting rotations with other players, helps out in the long run. You get to see actual potential of a recruit, in real-time college speed. Also keeps your defense fresh and ready for 3rd downs. And not to mention getting a few plays in big time games...ie Jones,Toliver,Nevis. Without Jones defense stop and forced fumble..we might lose the Bama game. That would make me very excited about LSU, and being #1.

The only young WR who has received consistent playing time is Toliver. Doucet is gone...Byrd has 1 year left..after next year the door opens for 1 or 2 WRs - that's the way they'll see it if they are recruited properly.

Being #1 in any season should have no effect on a recruits decision rather the depth of a team to follow up the next season with strength AND regardless of the coaching situation at hand. Miles inheriting such depth should prove the point along with the potential for his leaving. Coaches leave all of the time around the country as it is a rarity that any player will graduate with the same coach he started with. If it's all about the coach then go play at Penn State!

We have our starting 3 next year (LaFell, Byrd, Toliver), but a true freshman will likely have to step up to become the 4th.

I have to assume Benton will be that guy. At least one other true freshman WR would see substantial PT (J Taylor, perhaps?).

Being #1 implies great depth & talent for the future. Most kids want to go to a team that will be a winner, and the easiest way to show them that is by consistently being at the top. Miles has done that.

Um, have you seen them this year? They have very, very few catches between them. Toliver & Byrd have both passed all of them on the depth chart, and I can only assume more incoming freshmen will.
