Since week 7, the AFC is 30-9 vs. the NFC with a point differential of 350. That's absurd. First the NBA, and now the NFL. The 6th team out of the AFC is just as good if not better than the best team in the NFC (Bears).
it's different in the NBA, because the best team almost always wins a best of 7 series... in a 1-game NFL game, anything can happen... the NFC may be up against it, but a hot Chicago or New Orleans or Dallas team can beat one of the big-dawgs, as evident with Dallas beating the Colts earlier this year.
Very true. Same for baseball. The AL is clearly better than the NL, yet the Cards won the World Series. I think it all shakes out in the end, it just makes it tough for some above average teams to make the playoffs (any sport) while lesser teams coast into the postseason, due to the ineptitude of their conference.
Good point. The AFC certainly as a better record than the NFC, but the fact that the playoffs and the championship is determined in single games acts as an equalizing influence.
those days the super bowl was almost always a rout. we haven't seen anythign near that recently, luckily. Each of the last 3 could have gone either way.
No but we also haven't had one conference dominate the other either. Back in them days, there was no AFC team that could keep up with Washington, NY Giants, Dallas and the SF 49ers (and later the Green Bay Packers). This year reminds me of them days, just in reverse.
you do realize i'm not disagreeing with you, right? I'm just trying to be optimistic that it isn't happening again because of 1 game scenarios and parity.
