Exactly, in fact the writing was on the wall and a lot to do with why one of them was pulling up stakes in the first place.
I agree with you on most topics but I beg to differ on Snyder, he was a workout beast and the coaches loved him before the injury. He had put on a ton of muscle and was developing at a rapid rate. As a matter of fact, the coaches have encouraged him to stay at LSU so that if he does heal up he can come back to the football team. Some members of his family are against that though as they are worried about his future health.
Okay... "before the injury" isn't really relative. He was injured, and at this time, doesn't look like he'll be in a position to contribute in the future. If things do get better, he can get rejoin the team.
OK, I'm an older guy and maybe I see things a little differently. I don't know about Lott but Snyder was a guy who could play. He was a kid who had all the hopes and dreams of all kids coming out of high school and getting a scholarship to LSU and now those dreams are gone. Not something to be gleeful about even if we do gain another scholarship and be more like USC. And this USC thing. Shouldn't they be aspiring to be more like us. LSU had the best team this past year. I'm sure of that. Louisiana or Miss. or Ark. kids will never be rated as high as Ca. kids by Rivals. Rivals is a commercial site and writes for the readers. That means players from high population states will get the most coverage, the most hype and be rated the highest. Doesn't mean they're the best. I know this is a recruiting thread and I understand the where everyone is coming from. I'm just saying keep things in perspective. That's all I have to say about that.
I know it doesn't ever happen, but am I the only one here who thinks if a player doesn't pan out, or if a player doesn't play well, that they should be able to be released from their scholarship no strings attached? It's only fair. They can leave whenever they want no strings attached.
They can "not play football" and leave. They can quit school and leave. But they can't just freely go to some other school without having to sit out a year. Lift the one year out rule, and allow in conference transfers, and your little release rule is fine... or better yet, pay all of the players some of the ncaa money and then you can "fire" them if they don't play up to snuff. Greed is a bitch... they can't all be five stars... there has to be someone on the scout team running Florida, Alabama, Georgia offense to help our boys out all year.
