Guess this is inside information. Can't find anything about it. Does a football player lose his scholarship if he get's injured? I don't think so. Not something to chortle over in any event. And what does the statement look out USC here we come mean?
15? I thought LSU originally had 16 schollies to play with, which would make the two new additions nos. 17 and 18.
Normally a prospect is offered a schollie that is renewable (if that is the correct term) every year.
Yeah, Miles kicks them off if they're hurt. He likes to say, "No Dead weight." HE QUIT DUDE. USC is out of the box and from all indications, the team to beat next year in final standings. Two more scholarships could help us to catch/pass them up in the final standings next year with the talent our staff is gathering up. Since you obviously don't like hide & seek, maybe next time I'll say, Pete Carroll.....Pete Carroll....let dudley come oooovvver.
CParso is being a real hard ass on this issue. We've gone back and forth about this. I originally said 38 scholarships, he said 4. We're trying to meet in the middle.
It's all a guess about how many scholarships we will have come signing day, and even more of a guess at how many we will sign considering non-qualifiers & grayshirts, but we have 13 scholarship seniors, so any scholarships available above that number will have to come through attrition. These 2 may not even actually count for the scholarships of the '09 class, as it depends if any walk-ons receive scholarships and if anyone doesn't qualify from last year's class. Let's just assume we currently have 15 scholarships to work with.
Out of those 15 scholarships what maybe the break down at the positions and what are looking to accomplish? 2-QBs 3-RBs already have 2-OL 1-RB 2-CB get where I am going, give me some insight on the breakdown if you can please.
For a person who thinks Alabama is our "Next door neighbor," I guess it would be hard to understand. I didn't notice anyone who was happy about losing any players, only members making lemonade out of lemons, not the same kind of lemons that you sell. :hihi:
All athletic scholarships are awarded on a one-year basis. Les can decline to renew a scholarship if he has to to make the 85, but it is rarely done. In many years there is an extra scholarship or two to give to a deserving walk-on. Andrew Hatch is apparently using such a scholarship this season. Normal attrition must be planned for. There are always transfers, flunk-outs, dismissals for misbehavior, players quitting football because of injuries, etc. Grayshirts could make the team or walk-ons receive a scholarship. CParso is right about the numbers available for 2009 . . . they will not be set in stone for a long time yet.
