That is true about one aspect of their new policy...

"Dick’s Sporting Goods, said Wednesday morning it was immediately ending sales of all assault-style rifles in its stores."

But perhaps HR is referring to the other aspect....

"The retailer also said that it would no longer sell high-capacity magazines and that it would not sell any gun to anyone under 21 years of age, regardless of local laws."

Sounds like Dick's doesn't care what the local laws are. They might want to be concerned about federal laws as well. The Supreme Court heard 90 minutes of argument last December on the gay wedding cake case and will likely make a ruling by June of this year so stay tuned. The justices seem divided with Kennedy as the swing vote and he's voiced opinion on both sides.

Since a huge part of their clientele is pro gun I am anxious to see how his affects their bottom line. pretty sure I've read some heavily negative reviews about them, for shitty customer relations- if I recall- before this.

They're a publicly traded company. They have shareholders they're responsible to. We'll see how long it lasts.

They did something similar after Newtown. Cancelled all customer orders for AR's and stopped selling them in stores, although temporarily obviously.

Never met anyone who bought a firearm from Dicks so fk em. That place seems to cater more to over indulgent urban millennials anyway.

Still aren’t selling them in Flowood, MS. Academy Sports opened up about a half mile from them and still sell it all. Dick’s still sells nice sports chairs and shoes. So, there’s that.

A fine example of the media distorting the story. Did you see the clip of that? He was joking with the senator

Why in god’s name do some gun owners get so damn butt hurt over this shit? If Dick’s doesn’t want to sell guns to certain people or large magazines, who the fuck cares? Let’s say they legalize pot, anyone think I’m gonna get pissed because Wal Mart doesn’t sell Devil’s Tits? No, I’m not. This makes NO sense to me.

Which is probably why they have no problem saying they will stop selling them. If there was enough sales or profit for them on any particular gun/rifle, they wouldn't be doing this.

Dick's is going the way of the dinosaur. Brick and mortar is way too expensive and it's clear that people prefer to shop online.

A few reasons I imagine. I mean, why did some people get so butthurt over a bakery that didn't want to bake a cake for a gay wedding? If the cake was available for purchase at plenty of other bakeries, then why punish this one?

It's not really about the cake....or the guns. It's about rights. It's about freedom to exercise rights that a lot of people believe are guaranteed to them. One step in that direction and the momentum might keep up. Sort of like when one state legalized pot or legalized gay marriage....now we have a lot of states who do. It works both ways.
