Yes. Unless from a private seller. I think. Long guns 18. I think.

    It is now.

It is not only a contradiction, it's insulting.
And as I mentioned previously, in the last week in CA, where we have some of the most prohibitive gun laws in the country, two underage teens not only had guns they weren't legally allowed to possess, but they made mass shooting threats and were arrested. Making it illegal doesn't stop anything.

    Freedom isn't the problem.

Well its assumed that if you join the army or marines at 18 you will learn proper use of firearms, which includes firearm safety. I'd feel much safer next to an armed 18-year old marine than I would with an armed civilian 18-year old TidePod eating malcontented dropout.

Dick's Sporting Goods, which says it sold a shotgun to Cruz last year, makes several changes to its gun-selling policies:
    http://www.nola.com/national_politics/2018/02/dicks_stop_selling_assault_rif.html
I don't object to their changes; they certainly have the right to sell or not sell whatever products they choose. But I do object to this sentence in the announcement:
"We will no longer sell assault-style rifles, also referred to as modern sporting rifles."
Trying to research the official classification of firearms, neither the term "assault-style rifle" nor "sporting rifle" exist. The higher ups at Dick's should certainly know this, but they are allowing themselves to be influenced by the ongoing debate, which for now is being controlled by the left. When the terminology becomes muddle, the loudest people in the debate are allowed to redefine terms. So the left, which loves to try to pacify the 2A crowd by claiming, we don't want to ban guns, just want tighter restrictions on certain types of guns, muddles the terms and can easily bring more guns into its classification of what needs to be controlled.

The local dick’s sporting goods stopped selling rifles here years ago. I can’t remember which shooting it was after.

I realize I am a bit slow, and old too! But I can't reconcile how Dick's can decide not to sell a rifle to an otherwise legal 18 year old, but the baker had to make the wedding cake for the gay couple. Seems this PR move will die, promptly, in court.

Dick's is not selling certain types of firearms at all whether the customer is 18 or 80. If the baker didn't make wedding cakes at all they couldn't be accused of discrimination for refusing to make one.

Agree. I think the ruling was recently overturned though.
