.................Win Pct.....Score.....Big Win....Close Win Ohio State.... 31.1% ... 22.7 ..... 14.7% ...... 9.3% LSU............. 69.0% ... 29.8 ..... 41.3% ..... 13.1% Voter Polls: OSU winning...... 38 % LSU winning....... 62 % OSU +5............. 42 % LSU -5.............. 58 % It's gonna be like this the entire way leading up to the game, so get used to it. In fact the healthier we get and the closer it gets to the game, I think the point spread will increase to probably close to 7 points.
It had already jumped to 7.5 this morning on some books, but it will level out and then spike and then level...ad nauseum.
Yeah. Certainly setting up Ohio State to use the "disrespected" angle. We better bring our A game because Ohio State will come out fired up. Good news for us is that we will have the crowd advantage, so it should be easier to turn the emotional tide of the game.
Hopefully our players dont see this and stay focused. I mean, all you have to do is look at Ohio State last year for an example of what not to do, so it can't be that hard forget
DarkHornet...no offense to you but I need to use your comment. I hate the term "bring our A game". I think this is a leftover expression from Saban. He loved using the term whether we were playing Florida or the Little Sisters of the Poor. You only get to play 12-14 games per year and most players don't get an opportunity to start until they reach their junior or senior year. After that you usually only play on offense, defense, or special teams. Due to our depth, many players rotate in/out on plays...so how many plays do they even play in a game? (20?, 30?) My point is that these kids work their tails off for years to get an opportunity to play a limited amount of time. If you can't get up (considered an "A game") for a Division I game against a SEC team, in a bowl, or for the National Championship...then you shouldn't be playing college football. Maybe it's just me but I can't understand how these guys couldn't bring their "A game" to every game, even if they're playing Tulane, La Tech, or Ole Miss. Saying they need to bring their "A game" makes it sound like they don't care at all unless it's a "big" game. I would think that every game would be considered a "big" game because if you don't win the non-"A games", you don't get an opportunity to play in the "big" games. Does that make any sense? If not, I'll go get another cup of coffee and veg out and next time I'll bring my "A game". :hihi:
No offense taken, but to counter your point: While (as someone who's never played football at this level) it seems like you should have no problems gettting up for a game of this magnitude, you spend a month listening to how Ohio State has no chance and you might put your guard down. Why couldn't West Virginia get worked up for the Pitt game? They should have destroyed them. It's possible (probably likely) that they spent all week hearing how they were guaranteed a trip to the title game, and forgot that they had to go out there and earn it.
I don't take much from a computer's calculations on these things because there are too many human factors at play during a football game. For example, how does a computer distinguish between a senior that's been starting for 2 or 3 years and has played in numerous big games, vs a Sophomore who is making his 3rd of 4th start. This computer doesn't measure determination or desire, or any of those "human" factors. I have no idea how a computer decides who wins these things. By 40 yard dash times? A team's mark in the bench press? What??? We better come ready to play! Anyways, just my .02..... :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :crystal: :crystal: :crystal:
I developed a computer that takes into account heart and determination. Still trying to tweak it, that damn Hester keeps blowing up the formula.
It just takes someone with a few good x's and o's to outwit someone's "A" game. Dorsey good be steamrollin to the right and knocking everyone down, but if McFadden goes left, well there goes his A. Hustle and bustle are one thing but a well executed play is another.
