I’m not against capitalism at all. I’m just saying you can’t have accountable capitalism when the pursuit of profit trumps all. It’s impossible.
The pursuit of profits is always going to be the driving force and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Should the major stockholders demand that their CEO's create and maintain a more humane corporate culture? Of course but that's not something you can legislate. Doesn't your company make paper products? That doesn't sound like something that couldn't be done a lot cheaper overseas. Too restrictive legislation could mean some guy in India would be doing your job for about 5% of your pay grade.
I think you are mistaken my comments as complaints or a reason to burn it all down. I’m not, just being realistic.
Same one, it’s been closed down. They were supposed to make it an aluminum plant but the guy in charge ended up being a fraud.
Warren’s vision of accountable capitalism is nothing but socialism. https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/08/elizabeth-warren-accountable-capitalism-act-terrible-idea/ As far as corporations having social responsibility beyond obeying the law and making profit for the share holders there is no strict rule. However many companies do believe that making the country and old better through good acts is worthwhile. That’s why they support charities and community efforts such as symphonies, museums and other things......the tax savings are not nearly as important as good will and making the community a better more livable place. Too many critics ignore such things but they form an important part of community.
