Shortly before halftime of the Rose Bowl Kirk Herbstreit and Brent Musburger began ABC and ESPN's annual effort to make USC #1: Herbie: Years from now when people look back over the last 7 years they will be awed by USC's dominance . . . they could have won three or four national championships if not for one little wrinkle. Musburger notes the AP could name them national champions no matter what the Florida-Oklahoma outcome is. Then at halftime the studio panel begins to point out that USC only lost one game and if people just watched them play up against OU or Florida or Texas they would see USC as #1. Mark May and Lou Holtz begin to wrestle to prove which has the greater love of the Trojans. The American public was obviously out of its mind in choosing between Obama and McCain. Pete Carroll would obviously solve all our problems and usher in an era of world peace. "Drool cups to Bristol, please. Drool cups to Bristol."
What wrinkle? The fact that Carroll shyts a brick once a year, every year. That's not a wrinkle. That's more like a pot marked 13 year old's face.
Fixed it for ya! :thumb: Ahh yes, the annual "Who can suck Pete Carroll's vienna sausage the most" program! This just proves that any idiot can be put in front of a camera on the networks. And i find it funny how all of a sudden the Wac-10 is a good conference again. All year the media said USC wouldn't make the BCS game because the W10 was so weak. Now Brent Muffberger and Herpie are saying how great the W10 is cause they're undefeated in the bowl games. They're a phucking joke!
He still doesn't understand the BCS and why the computers are even part of the equation. Well, guess what, the voters weren't enamored with you either this year.
Oh the Herbie and Mush USC love fest being bestowed for the last 3 quarters has me :angryfire I hate to break it to Herbie and Mush but UF as much as I hate the lizards would tattoo USC to the field, both ends too. If USC was so great than they would have more than one :crystal:. How many times did they even make it to the BCSNCG? Oh and please don't tell me Carrol wants a playoff system. He sure didn't want one back in 2004.
USC plays in a weak conference and then ends the year playing an even weaker Big 10 opponent in the Rose Bowl. Any of the big dogs could duplicate and actually do better than what USC has done in that 8 year span. LSU would easily have 3 or 4 national championships if you swapped places with USC. 2003, 2006, 2007 and maybe even 2005.
They actually went out of their way to talk about the PAC-10 being the best conference in the NCAA this year since all 5 PAC-10 teams won their bowl games and stating that the "SEC could not catch up since South Carolina lost." I switched my TV to watch a re-run of a Monk episode once they started on that crap. I really wanted to watch Cushing, Mays, and Maualuga play, but I can only stand the sound of Burnt Marshmellow's voice for so long. (Not to mention that annoying USC fight song.)
From the announcers you'd swear to God that USC has to been to the BCSNG every other year instead of their 1-1 record so far. OSU and OU have been there 3 and 4 times respectively with just as many crystal balls as USCryalot but USC is suppose to be crowned the team of the decade. Lets just overlook LSU winning more than one in a decade WITH UF possibly doing the same thing in a couple of days. Now I remember why I despise USC and USC koolaid drinkers.
