I don't question Jones' desire to hire SP, the Dallas media's desire to have him, the Cowboy fanbase's desire to have him, or JJ's willingness to pay the Saints whatever compensation would be necessary to get him. I only question if he would be willing to work for someone who will want a say in everything after 16 years of being the unquestioned final authority.
It wouldn't surprise me if Jerry has already tried to contact him. My gut feeling is that he will not coach in '22; maybe he'll do TV. If he wants to coach anywhere in '23 or '24, that team will have to compensate the Saints. He won't be a "free agent" until the 2025 season.
